Public Comment: Two residents were in attendance. Julie Harrison shared her concerns regarding the Cottage Housing ordinance and the Railroad Cottages. Specific concerns included the lack of parking spaces and the necessity for a dumpster rather than 22 individual trash bins in a small area. Stephanie Dorsey, another citizen, remarked that she did not oppose the concept of the development; however, she opposes the development in the current proposed location. She also thinks July is too soon for City Council to decide upon the development and that City Hall should push the meeting to later in the year. 2. Minutes Approval for the April 2017 Meeting The March minutes were not presented for a vote by Stephanie Rogers’ sit-in attendee and the April minutes were approved. 3. Committee Member Reports • Paul B reported that 28 youth have applied to act as the Youth Representative. Steve Knight will be working on the determining and hiring process to fill this position. • Paul B and Chairwoman Caumont attended the Falls Church FABB meeting, and it went well. The next meeting will be held in Merrifield. The group that worked to set up the “Bike to Work Day” website was great. 4. Discussion Item: CACT Priority Tracking sheet for 2017 Doug brought up parklets and how they could be implemented in the City. “Parklet O’Matic” was presented as a process which the City could follow to get started. The third Friday in September is a proposed Park(ing) Day in Falls Church. Outreach for this event takes up to a year, reports the City of LA. Paul B said he wants to look at Arlington’s parklets and identify Arlington’s stakeholders in this process. He also said that EDA may be interested in this project. 5. Discussion Item: Draft Walkability Survey Results The overview states “Overall, residents offer a lukewarm assessment of the walkability of the City’s main commercial corridors. “ 6. Discussion Item: League of Women Voters Forum on Transportation The CACT briefly went through a packet describing I-66 widening and tolling during the weekdays, using a study corridor from Vienna to Rosslyn. Noise wall, W&OD Trail Bridge over Rt. 29, West Falls Church Public access and outreach scanned. 7. Information Item: NVTC, Funding Regional Transportation Projects: Paying for Transit in Northern Virginia Briefly went over transit finance and transforming 1-66. 8. Information item: NTC Update Paul Stoddard reported that he would like to see a move toward procurement and an RFP to be put out next month for the Maple Ave project, and done by the end of the summer. City staff met last week on striping plans for West Ave and Lincoln Street. In addition to parking lanes and crosswalks, options include a pedestrian refuge island on Lincoln Ave at Meridian Street. 9. Attachments and Correspondence a.
