CITY OF FALLS CHURCH
HOUSING COMMISION MINUTES
PURPOSE OF MEETING: The five-member Commission is appointed by the City Council for
three-year terms. The Housing Commission maintains awareness of housing needs and
opportunities, including affordable housing; proposes housing policy initiatives and changes;
investigates fair housing complaints and conciliates these complaints; mediates conflicts relating
to the Virginia Residential Landlord & Tenant Act and offers reconciliatory services in conflicts
relating to other housing laws.

1. Approval of Minutes – Vice-Chair Jordan Hicks
a. Hannah motion to approve

2. Public Comments:
a. Jeff Pearson - Member otf the HSAC - residite 513 W Broad
i. Looking for ways to solve for lack of acceeable housing in falls church
ii. Went to EDA a few weeks ago
iii. Wanted to get affordable housing on the council work plan
iv. Wants FC to be haven for peoples with disabilities
3. Housing Update – Staff Brenden Woodley
a. Brenden provided Housing Update from Kayleen Mark
b. Affordable housing Fund Committee Update
i. Waiting on final member
ii. Plan to meet in December and present finding to HC in Jan
iii. HC will then present to Council
c. Kayleen working on the Affordable Housing Report
i. Will be provided to HC early 2024 and HC will present to Council
d. Kayleen working on with Roosevelt Towers issue and that it was resolved
i. Letty noted good job on the Roosevelt towers
e. Brenden gave update on Va Village
i. Justine asked about budget
1. Brenden described issues with budget
ii. Letty requested an update on the recap on the budget once agreement with
Wesley has been reached
f. Brenden gave update on the Affordable Homeownership Program
i. 3 homeowners placed
ii. 4th homeowner closing anticipated mid-December
iii. 2 other 3-bed units available to buyers
4. Affordable Living Policy Comments – Vice-Chair Jordan Hicks
a. Discussed topics for the policy update
i. Jordan noted wanted to increase affordable unit % and term to 99 years
ii. Jordan also wants include the Fields as a topic

comments will be provided to the Housing Commission members and comments received by the deadline will be read
during the meeting.
