Page 1 of 2 MINUTES Human Services Advisory Council City of Falls Church PURPOSE OF MEETING: To advise City Council on human services delivery to Falls Church citizens. OLD BUSINESS: Miller House update Community Residences, the nonprofit selected to develop the group home for adults with intellectual disabilities, secured a grant for $300,000. This will enable them to move forward. Staff will take the project to City Council on September 11. City Hall Public Space and Safety Renovations City Hall renovations will begin December 1, 2017. Offices will be relocated to temporary spaces. The renovation is estimated to take a year. NEW BUSINESS: Homeownership ADU program review Members reviewed information about the homeownership Affordable Dwelling Unit program. STAFF REPORT • The Railroad Cottages proposed development will be going to City Council for final reading on September 11, 2017. • The City is pursuing a Health Eating Active Living initiative. • HHS was able to refer 22 people to the dental clinic, more than half were seniors, this is a fraction of the people living in the City with very low incomes; the criteria for referral is that their income needs to be below 200% of the federal poverty level or $24,000. • A pop-up library has been created by the flag pole at City Hall and dedicated to Mary McMahon, the Library Director who recently retired.  Page 2 of 2 MEETING ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m. SIGNATURE OF RECORDER: Nancy Vincent The City of Falls Church is committed to the letter and spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
