Forty Fort Borough Council Meeting February 3, 2020 Call to order Gavel strike of President of Council Jeffrey McLaughlin, called tonight’s meeting to order. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag A supplied pastor from the Forty Fort Presbyterian Church led the invocation along with Council President Jeffrey McLaughlin leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call President Jeffrey McLaughlin ordered a roll call. Members in attendance were President Jeffrey McLaughlin, Vice President Thomas Murray, Phil Mertz, Kristy Dadurka, Frank Mazza, David Sieminski and Cara Devine. Borough Mayor Andy Tuzinski, Chief of Police Daniel Hunsinger, Borough Manager Bonnie Arnone, Borough Secretary Michele Pascarella, DPW Supervisor Rick Kamus, Attorney William Finnegan, Police Chief Daniel Hunsinger, Mayor Andy Tuzinski and 10 visitors were in attendance. Public was then asked to leave for an Executive Session. Executive Session finished at 7:20 PM Volunteer Fire Presentation Deputy Fire Chief Bob Smith and Fire Chief James Shedlarski Jr. presented counsel with the title of the 2004 Fire Engine. A brief power point was shown of the history of the Forty Fort Fire Department. Resolution 4 of 2020 acknowledging the Forty Fort Fire Department with assistance in purchasing the 2004 fire truck. A motion was made by Frank Mazza and seconded by Cara Devine. All in favor. Motion passed. Public Comments Mary Ann Martinsky of 47 Hughes Street made a complaint of her next-door neighbor. Code Officer Tom Craig is aware and is pursuing action. Consent Agenda Matters listed with the consent agenda have been referred to members of the Borough Council for reading and study, are routine and will be enacted by one motion of Council. If separate discussion is desired, the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda by Council action. The resolutions listed below are submitted by Borough Council for the review and will be adopted by one motion. All were in favor, motion passed. Correspondence • SCPA 4th Quarter 2019 Report • PSAB Correspondence Council Action Items A motion was made by Cara Devine to approve payment of all bills. The motion was seconded by Thomas Murray. All in favor. Mr. McLaughlin abstained from the payment of the GBM bill. Motion passed. A motion was made by Kristy Dadurka for the purchase of automatic chlorinator and needed work at Forty Fort Pool-est. from Aqua Concept. The motion was seconded by David Sieminski. All in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Cara Devine for the hiring of a part time Police Officer with guarantee of 24-32 hours of part time shifts per week. The motion was seconded by Phil Mertz. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by David Sieminski for Resolution 3 of 2020 Commission and Boards appointments. Motion was seconded by Kristy Dadurka. All were in favor. Mr. McLaughlin abstained from this resolution. Motion passed. Old News 2020 Council Committee Appointments Mayor Andy Tuzinski read the thank you letters he wrote to the Vo Tech class that built the menorah, also to Beyond Behavior Consulting for the donation to the Police, Fire and Ambulance and to Chief Hunsinger’s law enforcement class for passing out the 2020 calendars and newsletters. New Business Safety improvements for Borough Building-cameras and fire room. Plans for the renovations were discussed and all council members are in favor. Rick Kamus will have more information on this in the following weeks. Safety Clean-up 2020. Rick proposed the dates of April27th through May 2, 2020 with the same fee and same size. All council was in favor. Meeting was adjourned at 8:50 PM. Motion was made by David Sieminski and seconded by Cara Devine.
