The Fredericktown Village council met in regular session on December 20, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at
the Fredericktown Municipal Building.
PRESENT: Council Members Brewer, de Rojas, Lanuzza, Shoemaker, McKnight and Van
Nostrand; Administrator Snell; Sergeant Jones; Solicitor Landon.
Mayor Day called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
INVOCATION: Gail Angel, United Methodist Church
MINUTES: Lanuzza made a motion to approve the December 6, 2021 minutes. Seconded by
Brewer. All yea.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:
• Chip McConville, administered the Oath’s of Office to elected council members, de Rojas,
Hobson, Lanuzza and Shoemaker for term ending December 31, 2025.
LEGISLATION:
RESOLUTION NO. 2021-30 – A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE
ADMINISTRATOR TO PREPARE AND SUBMIT AND APPLICATION FOR
TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM (TAP) GRANT FUNDING
THROUGH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT)
RESOLUTION NO. 2021-33 – A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING MEMBERSHIP IN
THE KNOX COUNTY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION
OLD BUSINESS:
• Shoemaker would like to revisit creating the DRD (Downtown Revitalization District).
• Sergeant Jones needs nuisance letter from Mayor/Village for car on jacks on Mulberry
Street.
• Christmas Lighting contest winners are as follows:
First Place – Mark and Carla Lowe, 103 West Sandusky Street
Second Place Tie – James and Carol Schrider, 4 Arrowhead Drive;
Michael and Michelle Holley, 46 High Street
Third Place – David and Susan Ramsey, 15940 Cassell Road
Honorable Mention – Charles and Karen Hessel, 18 North Mulberry
Honorable Mention – David and Patricia Dumbaugh, 147 South Main
NEW BUSINESS:
• Council members discussed estimates for new roof on the municipal building.
• Shoemaker said he would like to see the Village take on a bigger role in planning the
Memorial Day event. McKnight will look into this.
• Mayor Day thanked Council Member Van Nostrand for serving eight years on Village
Council.
VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
• Street Department fixed large water leak at Main and Tuttle Streets
FISCAL OFFICER'S REPORT: None
POLICE CHIEF REPORT: None
ZONING INSPECTOR’S REPORT: None
SOLICITOR'S REPORT: None
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SAFETY & FINANCE COMMITTEES: Next meeting January 3rd
PUBLIC WORKS: Next meeting January 3rd
PLANNING COMMISSION: Next meeting January 19th
MISCELLANEOUS COMMITTEE REPORTS:
• Parks & Recreation - Lanuzza said Bill Whaley has announced his retirement. They are
looking to fill his position possibly on January 19, 2022
• de Rojas said the Fire Board is hoping to appoint a new Fire Chief at the January 12, 2022
meeting.
• Shoemaker (Shade Tree Committee) suggested that we start ordering trees early this year.
