Roll Call Present 4 - Chairperson Michael McDonald, Vice Chair Jack Tracy, Board Member Lynda Snauffer, and Board Member Al Smith Board Council, Dan McCloskey was present and represented the Board. Acting Secretary Designees, Karnell Grijalva and Stephanie Martinez were also present. 2. Approval of Minutes A. March 15, 2017 On motion of Vice Chair Tracy, seconded by Board Member Snauffer, that the above Action Item be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chairperson McDonald, Vice Chair Tracy and Board Member Snauffer Abstain: 1 - Board Member Smith 3. Old Business The Board convened into closed session at 9:00am. A. Closed Session - Continued Public Discipline/Dismissal/Release [Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954] On Motion of Vice Chair Tracy, seconded by Board Member Snauffer, City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 1 Civil Service Board Meeting Minutes April 11, 2017 to approve findings with correction to a typographical error lines 22 & 25. The motion was carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chairperson McDonald, Vice Chair Tracy and Board Member Snauffer Abstain: 1 - Board Member Smith Jennifer DeRuosi, Deputy City Attorney, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Neither the Appellant nor a representative was present. The Board convened into executive session at 9:07am. The Board convened into closed session at 9:18am. B. Closed Session - Continued Public Discipline/Dismissal/Release [Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954] The Hearing on Appeal will proceed as currently scheduled. No action was taken. James Betts, Attorney at Law, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Robert Fuentes, Attorney at Law was present on behalf of the Applellant. 4. Hearing on Appeal A. Closed Session - Continued Public Discipline/Dismissal/Release [Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954] Appointing Authority Deputy Chief, Robert Nevarez, was present and represented by Attorneys at Law, Joseph Rubin, Paul Coleman and Deputy City Attorney, Jennifer DeRuosi. The Appellant was present and representative, Attorney at Law, Roger Wilson. Witnesses were sequestered and the reading of the Order was waived by the parties. Witness testimony was heard and breaks taken as needed. Exhibits of evidence were presented during testimony. The Hearing on Appeal will be continued on April 20, 2017. 5.
