Acting Secretary Designee, Karnell Grijalva, was also present. The Board convened into Executive Session at 1:40pm. The Board convened into Closed Session at 1:45pm. 2. New Business A. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] On motion of Board Member Gomez, seconded by Vice Chair Tracy, that the above Action Item was approved to dismiss the appeal. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Vice Chair Tracy, Chair McDonald and Board Member Gomez Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Labor Representative, Tony Silva, was present on behalf of the Appellant. The Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for January 8, 2020 at 9:00am. C. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] Attorney at Law, Joseph Rubin, and Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, were present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. Labor Representative, Tony Silva, and the Appellant were also present. The Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for March 23, 2020 at 9:00am. 3. Applicant Reviews A. Closed Session - Review of Director Removal From Eligibility List [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-249] On motion of Board Member Gomez, seconded by Vice Chair Tracy, that the above Action Item be approved upholding the decision of the Director of Personnel Services. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Vice Chair Tracy, Chair McDonald and Board Member Gomez Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, and Director of Personnel Services, Jeffrey Cardell, were present. The Applicant was not present. B. Closed Session - Inquiry of Director Review Applicant Disqualification Appeal [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-249] Following summaries from the parties, on motion of Vice Chair Tracy, seconded by Board Member Gomez, that the above Action Item be approved upholding the decision of the Director of Personnel Services. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Vice Chair Tracy, Chair McDonald and Board Member Gomez Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, and Director of Personnel Services, Jeffrey Cardell, were present. Unscheduled Public Communications Director of Personnel Services, Jeffrey Cardell, provided an update to the Board regarding filling the current (2) Board Member vacancies. Mr. Cardell reported that the Mayor's office is scheduled to appoint (2) new Civil Service Board Members on December 5, 2019 at the Fresno City Council meeting. 5.
