Roll Call Present 4 - Vice Chair Jack Tracy, Chair Michael McDonald, Board Member Julian Montalvo, and Board Member Linda Moreno Absent 1 - Board Member Elba Gomez Board Counsel, Dan McCloskey, was present and represented the Board. Also present were: Acting Secretary Designee, Karnell Grijalva, Assistant City Attorney, Tina Griffin, Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi and Stephanie Snyder, and Personnel Services Director, Jeffrey Cardell. At 9:01am the Board convened into Closed Session. 2. Approval of Minutes A. Minutes - December 9, 2019 On motion of Vice Chair Tracy, seconded by Board Member Montalvo, that the December 9, 2019 minutes be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4 - Vice Chair Tracy, Chair McDonald, Board Member Montalvo and Board Member Moreno Absent: 1 - Board Member Gomez 3. New Business A. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 1 Civil Service Board Meeting Minutes February 10, 2020 Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. The Appellant and Labor Representative, Carlos Rojas, were also present. The Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for March 25, 2020 in room 2165, 2nd floor of City Hall. B. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing [Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284] Deputy City Attorney III, Stephanie Snyder, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. The Appellant's Representative, Marina Magdaleno, was present on behalf of the Appellant. The Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for April 29, 2020 in room 1031, 1st floor of City Hall. C. Schedule Meeting(s) to Conduct a Public Employee Discipline Appeal Hearing[Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 3-284 Deputy City Attorney III, Jennifer DeRuosi, was present on behalf of the Appointing Authority. The Appellant's Representative, Marina Magdaleno, was present on behalf of the Appellant. The Hearing on Appeal was scheduled for May 8, 2020 in room 2165, 2nd floor of City Hall. At 9:08am the Board reconvened into Open Session. 4. Administrative Meeting Assistant City Attorney, Tina Griffin, and Personnel Services Director Jeffrey Cardell, reviewed the Civil Service Board Due Process, Procedures, and answered questions posed by the Board members. 5. Unscheduled Public Communications City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 2 Civil Service Board Meeting Minutes February 10, 2020 Personnel Services Director, Jeffrey Cardell, informed the Board of an anticipation that Board Member, Elba Gomez, would be submitting her resignation soon. Elba Gomez was recently hired as the new Director of Human Resources for Madera County and her new work commitments would severly limit her availability to continue serving on the Civil Service Board. At 10:50am the decisions o fthe Board were announced by Board Counsel, Dan McCloskey, in accordance with the Brown Act. 6.
