Call To Order The meeting was called to order by Chair Randall at 1:40pm. Member Pitt attended via phone. Approval of Agenda On motion of Vice Chair Reyes Acosta, seconded by Board Member (ex officio) Elvington, the above item was approved. Approval of Minutes ID18-1111 Approval of the Disability Advisory Commission Minutes from August 14, 2018 On motion of Board Member (ex officio) Elvington, seconded by Vice Chair Reyes Acosta, that the above Action Item be approved. Member Reports and Comments Vice Chair Frances Reyes Acosta shated that September 25 at 4pm Resources for Independence Central Valley will hold a community comments forum at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center. All are welcome to attend. Member Coulter shared that this week is Deaf Awareness week; events will be held nightly. The next event will be Valley Deaf Festival in November. 5. Secretary's Report Secretary Mulhall shared that the California Commission on Disability Access event will be held in Fresno on November 14. Please save the date to attend. 6. Unscheduled Communication / Public Comments Glenna Gammel addressed the commission to share that she was able to make contact with Fresno County. Yonas Paulos addressed the commission to share about a recent Veterans event, in which around 30 homeless attended. He stated that he went to the fare equity meeting at the Council on Governments and learned that FAX is rolling out the new smart card in January. He further shared that he is watching what is happening with the homeless ordinance at the City of Fresno, which may be changing. Lastly Paulos reported that there will be a District 3 council candidate debate on 9/24 at Westside Church. Action Items ID18-1110 DAC Achievement Awards On motion of Chairperson Randall, seconded by Board Member Elvington, that Desirick "Desi" Garcia be selected to receive the City of Fresno Achievement Award. On motion of Board Member Elvington, seconded by Vice Chairperson Reyes Acosta, that Yonas Paulos be selected to receive the Individual Achievement Award. On motion of Board Member Pitt, seconded by Vice Chairperson Reyes Acosta, that Geekwise Academy be selected to receive the Organization Award.
