MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION GEORGE A. PUREFOY MUNICIPAL CENTER COUNCIL CHAMBERS 6101 FRISCO SQUARE BLVD. FRISCO, TEXAS 75034 4:00 PM TUESDAY, AUGUST 4, 2020 MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Mayor Jeff Cheney called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. with a full quorum present. Provide staff with direction and recommendations for modifications to the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement by and between the City of Frisco, Texas and Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) for the Provision of Demand- Response Transit Services. (Engineering/KS) Director of Engineering and Public Works Paul Knippel gave a presentation (Exhibit A) to Council regarding Demand-Response Transit Services and the need to renew the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA). He explained that Frisco is not part of the group of cities served by DCTA, so it is necessary for Frisco to pay for a large portion of the cost for this service. Mr. Knippel stated that, due to the current circumstances, Staff recommends reducing the service area and increasing the fares for certain services. Council is in agreement to enter into a contract with DCTA for one more year, but requests that Staff revisit this issue to determine ways to reduce these costs, possibly by directing people toward private transportation. Staff will bring this issue back at a future meeting. 2. Discussion regarding changing the name of Rockhill Parkway and Teel Parkway. Director of Development Services John Lettelleir spoke to Council regarding changing the names of portions of Rockhill Parkway and Teel Parkway to PGA Parkway and Championship Drive, respectively. Donna Schmittler, 7037 White Rock Court, Frisco, Texas, spoke in opposition to Item #2. Mayor Jeff Cheney reported on the histories of several past communities in the area and expressed the importance of honoring both the past and the present history of Frisco. Fellow Council Members echoed the points made by Mayor Cheney and noted the significance of Prosper ISD naming the new high school Rockhill High School. ADJOURN Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem Shona Huffman moved to adjourn at 4:46 p.m. Council Member John Keating seconded the motion.
