CALL TO ORDER
The Frisco Park and Trail Naming Committee was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

2. Approval of Minutes from the October 13, 2020 Meeting of the Frisco Park and
Trail Naming Committee.

After pointing out a couple of spelling errors in Committee Member names,
Heritage Association Member Tracie Shipman moved to approve the October
13, 2020 Minutes as amended. Parks & Recreation Board Member Sean Merrill
seconded.

3. Review and discussion regarding any additional park or trail to be considered in
2020 - 2021.
Council Member Tim Nelson introduced Pastor Henry Thomas, who was
present from Hamilton Chapel Baptist in Frisco, to ask the Committee to
consider adding the First Street Park site to be renamed by the City Council.
Should the Committee move forward with this, then Pastor Thomas indicated
that he and members of his congregation would submit Mr. Jimmy and Mrs.
Clara Jones' names for the park, based on their contributions to Frisco for many
decades. The Committee thanked Pastor Thomas for his time and background
of the Jones' family.
4. Consider and act on adding any potential parks and/or trails to be named in
2020 - 2021.
After a brief discussion by the Committee, FCDC Member Ed Mahoney moved
to add the First Street Park to be considered for naming in 2020-2021. Heritage
Association Member Tracie Shipman seconded.
Passed

5. Staff presentation on next steps and potential meeting dates for the Committee
to consider names and recommend future action by the City Council.
Assistant Director Rick Wieland provided a brief overview of a potential timeline,
in which work by the Committee would move towards submitting

recommendations to the City Council for their final action on recommendations
from the Committee. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, it was felt that
the City Council should be in a position to consider recommendations from the
Committee at their November 2, 2020 Meeting.

6:40 p.m. Parks & Recreation Board Member Sean Merrell seconded.

NOTICE
Pursuant to City of Frisco Ordinance Number 19-10-86, each member of the public wishing to address the City Council shall be
entitled to speak for up to five (5) minutes, unless ten (10) or more members of the public are present to speak on a single agenda
item, in which case the City Council may by majority vote reduce the allotted time from five (5) minutes to three (3) minutes per
speaker to ensure that as many people as possible have an opportunity to speak, subject to the requirements of other law.
