A. CALL TO ORDER - Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call
Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, November
18, 2013, in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road,
Gahanna, Ohio. President of Council Stephen A. Renner called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Vice President of Council Jolley
delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by
Council Member Wright. Agenda for this meeting was published on
November 27, 2013.
Present 6 - President Stephen A. Renner, Ryan P. Jolley, Brian D. Larick, Beryl D.
Anderson, Brandon Wright, and Thomas R. Kneeland

B. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA - None.
C. HEARING OF VISITORS.
Mary Johnson, 4150 East Johnston Road of Gahanna stated she
wanted to register a complaint regarding Lounge 62; there was a
shooting recently and a person died as a result of his injuries; her
home is directly across the street; she doesn't want to live across the
street from a bar where there is a shooting; the other residents have
young children; it is not a safe environment; suffer financially; they
lived there before Lounge 62 opened and she wants their liquor
license revoked.
President Renner said this matter is on the agenda to be addressed
and Council is objecting to their liquor license to the Department of
Commerce; Johnson thanked Council for their efforts.
Dr. Charles Conroy, 4150 East Johnston Road of Gahanna echoed
his wife's sentiments as it relates to Lounge 62 and the recent
shooting; he was concerned about loud noise in his neighborhood,
now this shooting makes it way worse from a safety standpoint; the
problems have trickled out into the parking lot; there are tenants
across the street with small children; he said this is not the image we
want for the City; it is a serious safety problem to the residents who
live near Lounge 62 and needs to be addressed.

MR-0040-2013 Motion Resolution that this Council has no objection to the renewal of
any liquor permits in January 2014 for those businesses currently
holding liquor permits and located within the city limits of Gahanna,
except for Bar 62, LLC, dba Lounge 62, 953 E. Johnstown Road,
Gahanna, Ohio which is being opposed under separate resolution.

Larick said he will attend the next board meeting.
Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) - Jolley
Jolley asked if Wright wanted to speak about the contract with CVB;
pointed out Jadwin was present at the last meeting to discuss
changes. Wright didn't have anything to add. Jolley said they will be
meeting again in January.
M. OFFICIAL REPORTS:
Mayor - Not present.
City Attorney - No report.
N. COUNCIL COMMENT
Kneeland said the Holiday Lights Parade was another smash hit; the
parade was longer than he expected; wonderful event for the
community; thanked everyone who helped make the event a success.
Anderson echoed same sentiments on Holiday Lights; weather was
warmer than usual; congratulations to CVB and all other workers
involved to make the event a success; Rosa Parks reminder, event is
this Thursday at COSI at 6:30 p.m.; Stoneybrook United Methodist
Church is hosting a Cantata on December 21 & 22 at the
Lincoln-Gahanna High School; she will be singing in the choir; invited
everyone to come rejoice holiday.
Larick said he had a wonderful time at the Holiday Lights Parade;
enjoys Thanksgiving and spending time with his family and getting the
Christmas tree up; great weekend.
Renner thanked the residents who voiced their concerns about the
shooting; pointed out Council has raised concerns in the past and has
taken action to voice their issues about Lounge 62; hopes the law will
be on their side; Holiday Lights was a success and a lot of fun;
reminder about Isobel Sherwood's retirement party, tomorrow from 6
to 8 at the senior center to congratulate her on her upcoming
retirement; he welcomed everyone to attend to honor her for 30 years
of service to the City.

follows:

January 8, 2013 - 6:45 p.m. - Planning Commission
and to recognize that the City Council organizational meeting on
January 2, 2014, held per Charter, is also classified as a regular
meeting and to waive Section 5.20 of the Council Rules of Procedure to
dispense with a meeting on January 6.
MR-0040-2013 Motion Resolution that this Council has no objection to the renewal of
any liquor permits in January 2014 for those businesses currently
holding liquor permits and located within the city limits of Gahanna,
except for Bar 62, LLC, dba Lounge 62, 953 E. Johnstown Road,
Gahanna, Ohio which is being opposed under separate resolution.
