Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, February 3,
2014, in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road,
Gahanna, Ohio. President of Council Brian D. Larick called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Vice President of Council Kneeland
delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by
Council Member Leeseberg. Agenda for this meeting was published
on January 30, 2014.

MR-0005-2014 Motion Resolution to confirm the Director of Public Safety's
appointment of the Municipal Fire Inspectors as the Fire Chief of Mifflin
Township, Tim Taylor and, for those areas of Gahanna served by the
Jefferson Township Fire Department, Fire Chief of Jefferson Township,
Crystal Dickerson, for the period of April 1, 2014 through March 31,
2015.

Clerk McWilliams reminded staff that Finance Committee Chair
Schnetzer requested their input by Wednesday on mitigating factors

Council Member Angelou said because she wanted to be transparent ,
she worked for Creative Housing for thirteen years and pointed out
that she is no longer employed (or receives money) for that
organization and wanted to make it clear that there is no conflict of
interest.
A motion was made by Angelou, seconded by Kneeland, that the Ordinance be
Adopted. The motion carried by the following vote:

Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) - Larick/Kneeland
Kneeland said the next meeting is Tuesday, February 18 at 7:30 a.m.
at City Hall.
Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) - Angelou
Angelou said the next meeting is a week from Thursday.
Bd. of Education, Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools
Larick noted he has had several discussions with the President of the
School Board to identify a better way to identify challenges and
communicate more effectively; he will keep Council updated as things
progress.
Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) - Jolley
Jolley said for the first time in CVB's history they attended the
American Bus Association; the event draws more than 1,800 tour
operators; the tour buses are a big revenue stream for the restaurants,
hotels and other attractions in Gahanna; attracted three tour groups
and fifteen more interests for groups to come; Friday, March 14 the
CVB is hosting a Certified Tourism Ambassador Class to educate
City of Gahanna Page 6

people on the power of tourism in their communities; if interested
contact CVB; annual year-end review will be held on Thursday, April 3,
7:30 to 9:15 at the Creekside Conference Center.
M. OFFICIAL REPORTS:
Mayor
Stinchcomb said hosting the International Students from China next
two Wednesdays; Renner will be assisting her to teach the students
on local government; giving State of the City Business Address at the
Chamber Luncheon Meeting on February 13 geared toward local
businesses; Charter required State of the City Address (to the City) will
be on March 13; more details to follow.
City Attorney

N. COUNCIL COMMENT
Angelou commended the Development Department and the CIC on
the success of the Groundhog Day Breakfast.
Renner thanked all staff and the CIC for their efforts and hard work on
the Groundhog Day Breakfast.
Kneeland echoed Renner and Angelou on the Groundhog Day
Breakfast; wonderful event.
Jolley said it was unfortunate that he missed this great event; he
usually attends every year; was not able to make it this year.
Larick said not able to attend breakfast; disappointed he could not go
this year; congratulated CIC for their hard work.
