CALL TO ORDER - Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, April 7, 2014, in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio. Vice President of Council Thomas R. Kneeland called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Stinchcomb to Swear-In new Police officer: Bryan Kovalik Mayor Stinchcomb administered oath to new Gahanna Police Officer Bryan Kovalik. D. EXECUTIVE SESSION A motion was made by Renner, seconded by Leeseberg, to go into Executive Session under authority of Section 5.40(c) of the Council Rules of Procedure, to confer with the City Attorney concerning disputes involving the City, and/or appointed or elected officials or employees, which are subject to pending or imminent court action AND to go into Executive Session under authority of Section 5.40(a) of the Council Rules of Procedure to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee, official, licensee or regulated individual unless such public employee, official, licensee or regulated individual requests a public hearing. ORD-0059-2014 TO RECLASSIFY THE RECREATION SPECIALIST TO A RECREATION SUPERVISOR; AND TO DECLARE AN EMERGENCY. Bd. of Education, Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools - Jolley No report. Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) - Jolley Jolley gave some updates; 7 group tours scheduled for this summer; met with staff and editor from Midwest Living magazine; plan to come back in June for Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival; 28 folks attended City of Gahanna Page 7 City Council Meeting Minutes April 7, 2014 tours and ambassadors training; very successful; encouraged everyone to sign up to volunteer at Blues & Jazz Festival; had 4th annual meeting; gave out awards; great speaker about tourism industry in Ohio. N. OFFICIAL REPORTS: Mayor Gahanna Clean Greens on April 26th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; shredding day; greatly attended event; filled the trucks up; good time to get rid of old documents; sad note; long time employee Ed Corbett, who retired from the City as the building inspector; passed away last night. City Attorney No report. O. COUNCIL COMMENT Angelou said CVB 4th annual meeting was very well received; sorry to hear about Ed Corbett; deepest sympathy to his family. Renner said that we lost in excess of 17 Ash trees; a lot of neighbors got together and bought the same tree and replaced with 14 Cherry trees; if you lost a tree; work with parks department and celebrate spring by planting a tree.
