CALL MEETING TO ORDER Chair Schuler called the May 4, 2016 Parks & Recreation Board meeting to order at 7:06pm. B. ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Eric Miller, Andy Piccolantonio, Jan Ross, Jill Schuler and Ken Shepherd Absent: 1 - Cynthia Franzmann C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2016-0147 PR Minutes 4-6-16 A motion was made by Ross, seconded by Shepherd, that the April 6, 2016 minutes were Approved.. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 5- Miller, Piccolantonio, Ross, Schuler and Shepherd Absent: 1- Franzmann D. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA E. HEARING OF VISITORS Three students from the Gahanna High School Government class attending the meeting. F. OLD BUSINESS G. NEW BUSINESS - Staffing Euton announced and introduced Jeff Barr who has been promoted from Parks City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes May 4, 2016 Superintendent to Deputy Director, Parks & Recreation. Previous candidates for the Parks Superintendent position will be considered first and if necessary the position will be posted. - 2016 Goals & Initiatives Euton shared his and the Department's Strategic Results and initiatives for 2016-2017 with the Board. 2016-0146 2016 Goals & Initiatives - McCutcheon Rd Park Fundraising Euton shared that the Department has heard that The House of Representatives has approved a Clean Ohio Trail Fund from the State budget of $250,000 for McCutchenon Rd Park. A funding plan has been created for the Park. We are applying for $180,000 from a Natures Work Grant, the Kiwanis is applying for a $25,000 grant. There is $300,000 in Parks Capital that will be requested from Council. Euton is creating public partners to help fund the park. The funds will not be needed until 2017. Construction will begin in the summer of 2017. The total cost of the park development is $1.7 million. The park will need to be completed in phases depending on funds raised. H. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS - none I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT 2016-0136 Director's Report Euton shared the Director's Report from April. The Senior Center has 48 participants registered for the Senior Golf League, which is double from 2015. Volunteers From Peach Lutheran Church had 135 volunteers who helped paint fence, remove Honeysuckle, construct new trellises at Woodside Green, along with many other projects. J. COMMITTEE REPORT'S a. Aquatics Advisory Committee b. Bicycle & Trail Advisory Committee (BTAC) Euton shared that the Parks & Recreation Foundation is sponsoring $1,000 to YayBikes to have a bike corral at the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival. The corral will be located in the grassy area beside the Sanctuary near the High and Towne St entrance. c. Veteran's Advisory Committee The Veterans Memorial brick dedication is on May 30th at 1pm. K. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Ross shared that the Hops N vines Committe is meeing to plan the event. Sara Farley is the chair this year. School Board Report Schuler shared that the new Superintendent, Steven Barrett will be at the next School Board Meeting for a meet and greet. L.
