CALL MEETING TO ORDER Ross, Chair called to order the Special Meeing of the Parks & Recreation Board on February 6, 2019 at 8:00am. B. SWEARING IN OF BOARD MEMBER DAPHNE MOEHRING Pam Ripley administered the Oath of Office to Daphne Moehring. C. ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Eric Miller, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd, Cynthia Franzmann, Chrissy Kaminski and Daphne Moehring Absent: 1 - Andy Piccolantonio D. NEW BUSINESS i. 2019 Summer Camp Fees Barr stated staff has been evaluating the day camp programs. After analyzing each camp program separately and the cost to run each it was decided to no longer offer Nature Bugs, CORE, L.E.E.D., Spring Break and Winter camp programs. Based on the revenues and expenditures the camp at Friendship Park will be structured and cost the the same as camp at Hannah Park. Additional changes to camp are: * Hannah Rates increased $5-res/$10-non-resident from 2018 rates * Friendship Rates same as Hannah, with new camp structure. * The week of July 4th will be pro-rated. Camp will run Mon-Wed, July 1 - July 3rd. * There will no longer be an Early Bird Rate for the 2019 Season City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes February 6, 2019 2019 Proposed Camp Fees Resident Non-Resident Hannah $190 $210 per week Friendship $190 $210 per week July 4th week $115 $135 per week Summer Preview $45 $50 per day Back School Bash $45 $50 per day The Board discussed the fees proposed and requested that the per day cost of Summer Preview and Back to School Bash be increased to $50 for residents and $60 for non-residents. Motion was made by Shepherd, seconded by Kaminski, to approve the proposed Camp Fees as discussed. Motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6- Miller, Ross, Shepherd, Franzmann, Kaminski and Moehring Absent: 1- Piccolantonio 2019-0017 2019 Camp Fees ii. 2019 Budget update Barr stated that at the City Council meeting on February 4, 2019 Council voted to put the income tax increase on the ballot again in May 2019. If the tax increase does not pass there will be additional cuts to the budget, which include cuts to part-time staff, full time staff, the Parks & Rec Director, and the additional positions that have been identified by Council. For the 2019 season both pools will be open, each opening an hour later in the day and both pools will close once school goes back in session. Changes to camp programs were already discussed. Staff is looking at programming the senior building in the evenings. E. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business of the Board the meeting adjourned at 8:39am.
