1. Call Meeting to Order - Meeting was called to order by Bob at 10:00AM – followed by
Pledge of Allegiance.
2. Roll Call: Bob Balliet, Alvin Roberts (excused absence), Andrea Johnson, Pennie Niemeyer, Marie
Hall

Guests – Al Lara – CA State Retirees Association (CalPERS); Tara Wilson – IT Person, Volunteer at
GSRC; Clayton Wyatt – Area 4 Agency of Aging; Charilynn Conn – Galt Resident
3. Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may
address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during
the Commission’s consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that
are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of
five (5) minutes. Bob read the Statement.
4. Acceptance of Minutes: Vote to approve Minutes of Aug 22, 2019. Motion was made by Marie and
seconded by Pennie to approve the Minutes of Aug 22, 2019. Pennie pointed out at she was not
present for the Aug meeting. Bob indicated that he would make the correction to reflect her
absence. Minutes were approved unanimously, with the correction.

7. New Business:
(1) The Galt Senior Resource Center (Bob, Pennie) – Invite Commissioners to give an update on
the operation of the GSRC
Bob informed the Commission that Volunteer Rick is stepping down from his position at the
GSRC for health reasons. Pat McCormick (Senior Club President) and Balliet are filling in for
Rick until a replacement can be found.
Bob wants to discuss maintenance issues with Monica next week - Not receiving messages
Info going into City Newsletter does not show an email address that was submitted. Monica
indicated that the email address was too personal and suggested a more generic email
address. Bob stated that he would create a more generic email for the GSRC.
Bob let the Commission know that he was considering possibly joining the Galt Chamber of
Commerce but is concerned about the cost: $125/year and $30 admin fee. The consensus of
the Commission was that it would not be worth it, and Bob reiterated that he would, instead
attend the ‘Shop Local’ organization that Nov 6, 2019, that Ms. Lopez had recommended.
(2) Letter of Introduction to Senior Care Homes re: visitations (Bob) – update and present
timeline for visits. All nine locations have agreed to visits. Bob is working on presentations at
these locales & is working with TJ at Galt PD as he sets up more meetings during the
remaining months of 2019. The first such meeting is set for Three Palms Mobile Estates on
10/10/19. Bob will work with The Galt Place and the Golden Living Center to facilitate such
meetings in the coming months.
(3) Give update on Resource Calendars, cost & Print Service quote for 2020 (Bob) – present cost
of Monthly Calendar to the Commission. Express Type Graphics 500 for $3,000; Pat
McCormick is working with Express Type Graphics to obtain a discount; Bob stated that Vista
Print price has risen also looking for sales in the next several months.
(4) Get approval for: Brochure Display Unit, Chair-matt for GSRC & Webpage for GSRC.
Bob made motion and Marie seconded the motion to purchase Chair-matt for the GSRC. The
Commission voted unanimously to approve such a purchase for up to $45.00; the consensus
of the council was to okay a GSRC webpage Volunteer Tara created – from among for
samples - to be placed on the City Portal. Ms. Lopez stated that she would work with the City
IT to have such a webpage created. Bob suspended the possible purchase of a second
Brochure Display Unit indefinitely (not needed at the present time).
(5) Discuss Senior Health Faire (Bob) (Report on Meeting with Ms. Garcia/Event Organizer for
March 2020 timeframe). Bob informed the Commission of his meeting with Ms. Garcia and
They are planning of a Health Care Fair by the end of the first quarter 2020, with the
Commission on Aging being a participant. More Information will be coming available early
next year – with the Chabolla Center becoming a part of the Health Fair (for the Seniors).
8. COMMISSIONERS REPORT: Visit of various Senior Care Centers – invite Commissioners to
choose locations they want to visit before end-of-year; etc.… (Bob) Bob handed each
Commissioner a copy of the List of Senior Care Centers in Galt and invited his fellow
Commissioners to choose one or two locations that they would visit by the end of 2019 and
requested feedback on choices at Oct meeting.
9. ADJOURNMENT:
MONICA LOPEZ, RECREATION SUPERVISOR: The agenda for this Commission on Aging
