City of Galt MINUTES COMMISSION ON AGING GALT PARKS & RECREATION OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM 610 CHABOLLA AVENUE, GALT, CA Thursday, Oct 24, 2019 10:00am Chairperson: Bob Balliet Commissioners: Alvin Roberts, Andrea Johnson, Marie Hall & (1 Vacancy) 1. Call Meeting to Order - Bob called meeting to order at 10:00 AM – QUORUM PRESENT 2. Roll Call: Bob Balliet, Alvin Roberts, Andrea Johnson (excused absence), Marie Hall Advisor: Monica Lopez Guests present: Charilynn Conn, Harlan, Ray 3. Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during the Commission’s consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission and limit comments to a max of five (5) minutes. Bob read statement. 4. Acceptance of Minutes: Vote to approve Minutes of Sep 26, 2019. Marie Hall, Alvin Roberts second. All approved. 5. Guest Speaker: City Council Members – Annual Recognition of Members of Commission. Alvin Roberts thanked the council for their hard work. Sandhu, Campion, Settles each spoke to thank commissioners. The annual recognition was given to the 3 present members, Andrea can go by the Clerk’s office to obtain hers. 6. Old Business: (1) The Galt Senior Resource Center (Bob) – Invite Commissioners to give an update on the operation of the GSRC. Alvin Roberts would like a sign to put out front to advertise activities and events. Balliet informed the Commission that Tara’s husband will be joining GSRC to help with marketing and contact shop local merchants. (2) Give update on Resource Calendars, cost & Print Service quote for 2020 (Bob) – present proposal of Monthly Calendar to the Commission. Bob Balliet is working with Monica Lopez to try and get calendar cost down with Vista Print. Goal is to get the cost below $2,000.00 7. New Business: (1) Inform Commission of Pennie’s Resignation & the city’s announcement of seeking a replacement to complete her remaining term. Alvin Roberts – Is Pennie getting a recognition letter? Bob Balliet with check with the City Clerk. (2) Inform Commission of Pat McCormick’s inability to be a GSRC volunteer for the foreseeable future – and which volunteer would take her place for the time being.Tara is coordinating volunteers (3) Discuss Senior Health Faire (Bob) (Report on Meeting with Ms. Garcia/Event Organizer for March 2020 timeframe) – give update if any. Senior portion will be held in the Chabolla Center with remainder at the Market. Balliet will contact CSD, AARP, Alzheimer’s group. Roberts will share the information from the last event. 8. COMMISSIONERS REPORT: Visit of various Senior Care Centers – ask Commissioners to see if they have chosen a location they want to visit before end-of-year; etc.… (Bob) Balliet met at 3 Palms Estates and PD did not show up. Another meeting will happen in January. Galt Place meeting will be November 13th with Galt PD. Golden Living Senior may have a meeting in December and may invite a legal expert to answer questions. 9.
