City of Galt MINUTES COMMISSION ON AGING GALT PARKS & RECREATION OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM 610 CHABOLLA AVENUE, GALT, CA Thursday, Oct 22, 2020 10:00 AM – Virtual ZOOM Meeting Chairperson: Bob Balliet Commissioners: Alvin Roberts, Andrea Johnson, Marie Hall, Charilyn Conn 1. Call Meeting to Order: Meeting was called to order by Bob at 10:00 AM. 2. Roll Call: Bob Balliet, Alvin Roberts, Andrea Johnson, Marie Hall (excused absence), Charilyn Conn 3. Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during the Commission’s consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. (Read by Bob B) 4. Acceptance of Minutes: Motion to approve Minutes of February Sep 24, 2020 by Charilyn, seconded by Alvin. All approved. 5. Guest Speaker: None - No members of the public asked to participate in the Zoom Meeting. 6. Old Business: (1) GSRC ongoing effectiveness – TABLED until COVID 19 Restrictions are lifted. (2) STATUS of upcoming Health Faire – CANCELLED due to COVID 19 Restrictions – TABLED until COVID 19 restrictions are lifted. 7. New Business: (1) Discuss status of 2021 Calendars - Bob reported to the Commission that the 2021 Calendars are ready to be ordered, but he is waiting for Vista Print to extend another SPECIAL that would save us up to 60% of the original cost estimate, which at the present time, not including shipping and taxes, is $1,994.99 (down from $2,500.00) for 250 calendars. The present cost- estimate for 300 calendars is $1,754.00 (down from $2,925.00), not including shipping and taxes. A motion was made by Alvin, and seconded by Charilyn, for the Commission to approve the expenditure of up to $1,400.00 (for 250 calendars) and the reimbursement of the final amount to Bob Balliet, who will initially pay for those calendars and present the required documentation to Parks & Recreation for such reimbursement. The motion was passed unanimously (4-0). Bob also indicated that he is preparing a “List” of entities – without the months/days – as a Reference Guide, as  suggested by Alvin in the Sep 24, 2020 meeting. All members of the Commission in attendance vote yes on the motion. (2) Provide Status on developing Emergency Procedures for the Seniors in the City of Galt. Bob reported to the Commission that has started working to get new Emergency procedures going, by contacting appropriate governmental and non-governmental agencies, including seeking advice from Dir Solis – so that the Commission will stay within its legal parameters in achieving its objectives. He will be reporting to the Commission on his progress in that matter at the next scheduled meeting – probably in January 2021. Charilyn indicated that she is supportive in that effort and will assist in any way she could. Andrea also indicated her willingness to be of assistance in that effort. Alvin volunteered to work with Bob on that matter and reiterated his desire to have the city get more involved in the Commission’s activities in the coming year, by the city giving us more directions and support for our mission and for the Commission to keep the city better informed about what we do. (3) Status of Commission on Aging terms. Bob reminded Andrea that her term is do to expire on Dec 31, 2020 and that she needed to apply for appointment for another term by the end of the end of the year - she replied that she is in the process of making up her mind about a possible reappointment. 8.
