A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chair Rivas, called meeting to order at 6:01 P.M.
B. ROLL CALL:
Adult Mentors Present: Gordon, Hill, Klotz, Lampson, Maaga
Mentors Absent: None
Youth Members Present: Akers, Gold, Hemenover, Kunze, Mejia, Murillo Cuevas,
Neuburger, Rivas, Sosa, Romero

Item tabled for future meeting.
E. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. New Mentor Introduction
The commission welcomed the new adult mentors, Hill and Maaga, to the commission.
2. Icebreaker
Each commissioner created a sculpture out of playdough.
3. Elevator Speeches, Part 1
Commissioners Akers and Neuburger shared their speeches as examples.
4. Approval of minutes for the meeting of October 5, 2020
The minutes for the previous meeting were approved.

5. Treasurer’s Report
The expenses of the flyers ($89.31) were reviewed and accepted, and the new total of
funds is $2,603.32.
6. City Council Update
Councilmember Lampson informed the commission that the piece of property known
as the “Pocket” is now within city limits. Additionally, potential solutions for
landscaping budgets are going to be presented in the next city meeting.
7. Galt Herald Article
The article entitled “Small Cohorts to Continue at High Schools” was presented by
Commissioner Gold. The article was about how the high schools reopened schools to
small cohorts in the welding and special education classes. In addition, the article also
covered the classroom cleaning procedures and the mask requirements for teachers and
students attending school.
8. Trunk or Treat Community Event
The event was overall successful with more people than expected. Everyone who
helped or contributed was thanked. There were some communication complications
that will be considered for the future to avoid.
9. Community Project: Adopting a Street
Commissioner Murillo Cuevas shared that she contacted Mrs. Webber from the
Beautification Committee and is waiting for a response to see if the cleaning would be
possible. Adult mentor Lampson added that the commission would most likely not be
able to clean while the county is in the purple tier.
10. Community Project: Pen Pals
Commissioner Gold updated the commission of the status of the project. Each
commissioner received envelopes, stamps, and a pen for writing letters to seniors. A
list of people to write to will be given out soon.
11. Community Project: Random Acts of Kindness
Elastic and yellow fabric were received by commissioner Neuberger for the masks.
Two other fabrics are still waiting to arrive.
12. Lessons of Leadership
The commissioners had to answer three questions that have to deal with the future and
state of Galt. These will be presented to city manager Lorenzo Hines in the next
meeting.
13. Elevator Speeches, Part II
Commissioners Mejia, Hemenover, and Murillo Cuevas shared their elevator
speeches.
14. Rotary Community Dinner
The Rotary Club is not sure what they going to do this year as a result of COVID-19
and social distancing. The current date for the dinner is December 19 which is the
Saturday before Christmas weekend.

- Turning 18 voter registration idea (Civic Engagement)
16. Around the Horn/Give Your Gratitude
Sosa thanked everyone for helping at the Trunk or Treat event. Commissioner Murillo
Cuevas thanked the new mentors for joining. Adult mentor Gordon thanked Akers for
speaking on the Trunk or Treat event. He also thanked Hemenover for creating flyers.
Adult mentor Maaga stated the excitement she has for the future with the commission.

Chair Rivas adjourned the meeting at 7:45 p.m.

CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19) ADVISORY To protect our constituents, City officials and City staff, the City
requests all members of the public to follow the California Department of Health Services’ guidance and the County of
Sacramento Public Health Officer Order for the Control of COVID-19 restricting group events and gatherings and maintaining
social distancing. Additional information regarding COVID-19 is available on the City’s website at www.ci.galt.ca.us.
Consistent with Executive Order N-29-20, the meeting will be held via teleconference/electronically and the City Council will
participate via teleconference/electronically. In-person participation by the public will not be permitted and no physical
location from which the public may observe the meeting will be available. Remote public participation is available in the
