A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Carolina Murillo Cuevas, Chair, called meeting to
order at 6:00 P.M.
B. ROLL CALL:
Adult Mentors Present: Cross, Gordon, (Arrived at 6:01 p.m.), Klotz, Lampson
Mentors Absent: Collier, Singh-Uppal
Youth Members Present: Akers, Hemenover, Kunze (Arrived at 6:03 p.m.), Martin,
Mejia, Murillo Cuevas, Neuburger, Rivas, Robles
Members Absent: Stalians

F. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. Lessons of Leadership
Adult Mentor Klotz provided a lesson on following through on commitments. She shared a
chart and discussed the difference between what is “urgent” and “not urgent.” Klotz spoke
about the importance of doing what you say you will and to make sure you always follow
through.
2. U.S. Census Project
Adult Mentor Klotz shared information on upcoming events as well as finalized the list of
merchandise that will be used as giveaways at community and speaking events. She also
passed out a sign up sheet of upcoming City Council and School Board meetings and asked
commissioners to sign up to present their Census 2020 “elevator” speech during public
comment.
3. Breathe California
Council Member Lampson shared a meeting with some of the commissioners and Breathe
California regarding the impacts of second hand smoke in attached homes (i.e apartments,
duplexes). Lampson would like to see the Commission go to City Council and bring
awareness. A possible outcome would include adoption of a local ordinance. The
commission took action to commit to this project next year.

4. Approval of the Minutes for the Meeting of February 3, 2020
The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.

5. Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Kunze overviewed the funds in the Galt Youth Commission’s funds. There was a
total amount of $5,868.58 in the account. The commission profited from the Winter Bird
Festival by selling food and drinks.
6. City Council Update
None
7. Senior Tech Project
Commissioner Martin provided two flyers each to hang up where they can which will
provide some advertisement for the event which will occur in the month of March.
8. Adopting a Street Project
Commissioner Murillo Cuevas shared the next clean up day would be on Sunday April 5th
at 1 p.m.
9. Galt Youth Commission Scholarship
Adult Mentor Gordon stated that the scholarship applications were released on February
10th and the deadline to submit is April 15th. Applications may be picked up or turned at
either high school, Dr. Chavez office, or City Hall.
10. Galt Youth Commission Recruitment
Adult Mentor Gordon presented the Galt Youth Commission application for review. Minor
changes were made. Next steps will be to release the application next week with interviews
happening in April.
11. Eggstravaganza Breakfast Update
Commissioner Rivas gave a brief update that the event will take place on April 4th at the
Estrellita Ballroom. She also provided a sign up sheet for commissioners to work the event.
The Commission took action to approve a budget not to exceed $600.

12. Earth Day Engagement
Commissioner Neuburger updated the commission on how they would participate in the
Earth Day event on April 18th from 10-4pm. The Commission would have a table with a
spinner, prizes and Census 2020 giveaways. The Commission took action to approve a
budget for prizes not to exceed $60.

Commissioners provided updates to the roster. Adult Mentor Gordon mentioned there is a
lot going on in April (Eggstravaganza, Clean Up Day, Earth Day, etc.) and encouraged
commissioners to participate.
ADJOURNMENT: Chair Murillo Cuevas adjourned the meeting at 7:34pm.
