CITY OF GALT GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING AGENDA 380 CIVIC DRIVE via ZOOM GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2021, 6:00PM A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE: Chair Rivas called the meeting to order at 6:00pm B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners: Akers, Gold, Hemenover, Kunze, Mejia, Murillo Cuevas, Neuburger, Rivas, Romero, Sosa. Youth Commissioners Absent: None Adult Members: Hill, Klotz, Lampson, Maaga, Mayor Farmer Adult Mentors Absent: None C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may address the commission on any item of interest to the public. Speakers may address commission on any agenda item during consideration of the item. Please come to the podium and limit your comments to three (3) minutes. None D. PRESENTATIONS: Janis Barsetti, Galt Historical Society Galt Area Historical Society President, Janis Barsetti spoke to the Commission via zoom on the purpose of the GAHS, their mission, what they do, and informed on how they can contribute. E. REGULAR BUSINESS: 1. Icebreaker Group Share Adult Mentor Klotz will provide this month’s icebreaker. 2. Approval of minutes for the meeting of January 4, 2020 Action Item The commissioners read and approved the January minutes. 3. Treasurer’s Report Information Item Commissioner Murillo Cuevas updated the Commission on the Treasurer’s report. 4. Galt Youth Commission Scholarship Update Action Item Commissioner Murillo Cuevas will shared the 2021 scholarship application, with some rewording . 5. City Council Update Information Item Mayor Farmer informed the Commission on various City projects and challenges. 6. Community Project: Adopting a Street Information Item Commissioner Cuevas Murillo is looking forward to continuing with the project, but due to COVID restrictions and the Commission being a City Commission, we must adhere to the mandates as interpreted by the City Manager and City Attorney, thus we are not able to clean the streets at this time. 7. Community Project: Pen Pals Information Item Commissioner Gold provided an update on the writing of letters and notes. 8. Community Project: Random Acts of Kindness Information Item Commissioner Neuburger will be purchasing material for masks to be donated to school bus drivers, cafeteria workers and the IT department made with material applicable to their profession. 9. Supporting Your Mental Health Information Item Adult Mentor Maaga and Commissioner Rivas will reported on a meeting with Sacramento-area youth leaders on mental health. 10. Galt Youth Commission Recruitment Timelines Information Item Former Adult Mentor Gordon overviewed the recruitment process and solicited subcommittee members. Mentor Jessica Hill and Commissioners Murillo Cuevas, and Sosa will be on the committee. 11. Lessons of Leadership Information Item Adult Mentor Klotz provided this month’s lesson of leadership. 12. Future Agenda Items -Mental Health PSA project 13. Around the Horn/Give Your Gratitude Information Item Group discussion of any community updates that GYC members would like to share. CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19) ADVISORY To protect our constituents, City officials and City staff, the City requests all members of the public to follow the California Department of Health Services’ guidance and the County of Sacramento Public Health Officer Order for the Control of COVID-19 restricting group events and gatherings and maintaining social distancing. Additional information regarding COVID-19 is available on the City’s website at www.ci.galt.ca.us. Consistent with Executive Order N-29-20, the meeting will be held via teleconference/electronically and the City Council will participate via teleconference/electronically. In-person participation by the public will not be permitted and no physical location from which the public may observe the meeting will be available.
