CITY OF GALT GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MEETING ROOM, 380 CIVIC DRIVE GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, October 4, 2021, 6:00PM Mission Statement - Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens. - Stimulate community service in Galt - Encourage family participation in building civic unity. - Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community. - Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth - Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families. A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE Chair Cuevas Murillo called the meeting to order at 6:01 B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners Present: Akers, Cuevas Murillo, Cullers, Enriquez, Gold, Ramirez, Sosa Absent: Caron Mentors Present: Harris, Hill J, Hill M, Klotz, Lampson, Mayor Farmer C. PUBLIC COMMENT - None D. PRESENTATIONS: Bonnie Rodriguez-Galt Herald, Managing Editor Ms. Rodriguez discussed the importance of the local paper including its place as an unbiased source of information on local news, events and political activities. Ms. Rodriguez encouraged the GYC to work with the paper. Tracie Cross-Galt Joint Union High School Dist, youth mentor Ms. Cross discussed the Career Fair and asked for the GYC’s participation in the Fashion Show March 9. 2022. She suggested a theme of what and what not, to wear to an interview. E. REGULAR BUSINESS: 1. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor Hill J. facilitated an icebreaker; where would you visit and why? 2. Approval of minutes for the meeting of September 13, 2021 Action Item Fix: Add Commissioner Sosa to the Absent list of the September 13, 2021 minutes Motion Passed 7-0 3. Mentor Positions Action Item Mentors were designated advisors over officer positions - Mentor Lampson will be designated to Chair and Co-Chair (Cuevas & Akers) - Mentor M. Hill will be designated to Secretary (Sosa) - Mentor J. Hill will be designated to Treasurer (Enriquez) - Mentor Klotz will be designated to Public Relations (Ramirez) - Mentor Harris will be designated to the Fund raising (Caron) 4. Budget Report Information Item New Youth Commissioner Treasurer Enriquez reported and had no updates, no current balance was given. 5. Planning the year ahead Information Item Mayor Farmer discussed a new idea of a clean-up project. A discussion over the Fashion Show event was placed. The project idea for letters to the elderly and letters to the editor were also discussed. Committees were placed for each of these events or projects Float Lighting of the Night Main Leaders: Sosa and Akers Sub/interested: Cullers, Enriquez, Ramirez, Cuevas, Harris, and M. Hill Fashion Show Main Leaders: Cuevas, Cullers, Harris, and Klotz Sub/Interested: Ramirez and J. Hill Pen Pals (letter to the elderly) Main Leaders: Gold and Klotz Sub/Interested: Sosa, Ramirez, Enriquez, Akers, and Cuevas Property Cleanups Main Leaders: Cuevas and Mayor Farmer Sub/Interested: All GYC effort 6. City Council Update Information Item Mayor Farmer presented this month’s update with information about the flea market, C-street project, traffic awareness, changes down at Old Town, and information about the America Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). 7. New shirt update Action Item Sub Committee reported on the update, and it was determined that more information was needed before making a motion. No motion. 8. Council Liaison Action Item Adding a council liaison to commissioner’s responsibilities. Motion Passed 7-0. Alexis Gold expressed interested in this officer position. 9. Spookishly fun movie night Action Item Commission voted to participate in Spookishly Fun 7-0 and a budget not to exceed $100 was approved for purchase of candy. 10. Future Agenda Items Information Item - The Fashion Show with Tracie Cross - Budget update - Information and budget on shirts, and an action item to vote 11. Around the Horn/Give Your Gratitude Information Item Commissioners may share community updates and gratitude. Meeting adjourned at 8:20 Minutes submitted by Commissioner Sosa and Mentor M. Hill

CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19) ADVISORY To protect our constituents, City officials and City staff, the City requests all members of the public to follow the California Department of Health Services’ guidance and the County of Sacramento Public Health Officer Order for the Control of COVID-19 restricting group events and gatherings and maintaining social distancing. Additional information regarding COVID-19 is available on the City’s website at www.ci.galt.ca.us. Consistent with Executive Order N-29-20, the meeting will be held via teleconference/electronically and the City Council will participate via teleconference/electronically. In-person participation by the public will not be permitted and no physical location from which the public may observe the meeting will be available. Some suggested topics from last meeting include: Work Project, Invite the youth of Galt to hang out and do activities. Partner with teen center. Continue street clean. Random acts of kindness (Thank a mail delivery person, etc). Float-lighting of the night. Ideas for a big project. 6. City Council Update Information Item Mayor Farmer will present this month’s update. 7. New shirt update Action Item Sub Committee will report out. Possible vote on new shirt. 8.
