CITY OF GALT GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES ZOOM MEETING-GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 6:00PM Mission Statement - Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens. - Stimulate community service in Galt - Encourage family participation in building civic unity. - Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community. - Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth - Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families. A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE Chair Cuevas Murillo called the meeting to order at 6:05pm B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners: Akers, Caron, Cuevas Murillo, Cullers, Enriquez, Gold, Kaur, Ramirez, Sosa Mentors: Harris, Hill J, Hill M, Klotz, Lampson, Mayor Farmer Absent: Commissioner Enriquez and Commissioner Ramirez Commissioner Caron arrived at 6:09pm C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. PRESENTATIONS: E. REGULAR BUSINESS: 1. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor Hill J facilitated an icebreaker; find something/ someone you love 2. Approval of minutes for the meeting of January 3, 2022 Action Item Motion passed 7-0. Commissioner Cuevas Murillo motioned and Commissioner Gold seconded. 3. Fundraising Action Item Motion passed to participate in the Eggstravaganza, 7-0. Motioned by Commissioner Caron and seconded by Commissioner Kullers. Sub-committee: Alexa, Jasan, and Alexis. Head: Lauren and Paige. 4. Youth Commission Social Media postings Information Item Update from Mentor Lampson. 5. Letters to Editor and Council Action Item Sample letters from Breathe California Tabled to next month's meeting. 6. Budget Report Information Item No updates. 7. Summer Retreat Discussion Item Discussion over costs and guest speakers. 8. Adopt a Street-city clean up Action Item Motion passed 7-0. Commissioner Kaur motioned and Commissioner Gold seconded. 9. Fashion Show Project Discussion Item Mentor Harris updated on the number of models and number of outfit changes needed for the fashion show. 10. Alexis liaison to council Discussion Item Commissioner Gold updated on how well the city council meeting went. 11. Galt Herald article highlight Discussion Item Commissioner Sosa presented the idea behind the Galt Herald article highlight. 12. City Council update Discussion Item Mayor Farmer updated the commission on new job opportunities for the city, the newly Saturday market, and the project behind vaping detectors in schools. 13. Future Agenda Items Information Item - Article highlight - Letter to the editor and council - Summer retreat - Recruitment - Eggstravaganza 14. CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19) ADVISORY To protect our constituents, City officials and City staff, the City requests all members of the public to follow the California Department of Health Services’ guidance and the County of Sacramento Public Health Officer Order for the Control of COVID-19 restricting group events and gatherings and maintaining social distancing. Additional information regarding COVID-19 is available on the City’s website at www.ci.galt.ca.us. Consistent with Executive Order N-29-20, the meeting will be held via teleconference/electronically and the City Council will participate via teleconference/electronically. In-person participation by the public will not be permitted and no physical location from which the public may observe the meeting will be available.
