CITY OF GALT GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES CITY HALL COMMUNITY ROOM 380 CIVIC DRIVE GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, MARCH 7, 6:00PM Mission Statement - Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens. - Stimulate community service in Galt - Encourage family participation in building civic unity. - Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community. - Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth - Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families. A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE Chair Cuevas Murillo called the meeting to order at 6:04pm. B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners: Akers, Caron, Cuevas Murillo, Cullers, Enriquez, Gold, Kaur, Ramirez, Sosa Mentors: Harris, Hill J, Hill M, Klotz, Lampson, Mayor Farmer Absent: Enriquez and Hill J C. PUBLIC COMMENT- None D. PRESENTATIONS-None E. REGULAR BUSINESS: 1. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor Klotz facilitated an icebreaker; put your focus on others by introducing them to the group. 2. Approval of minutes for the meeting of February 7, 2022 Action Item Approval passed with the change from “Kullers'' to “Cullers'' in action item 3. Motioned by Commissioner Cuevas Murillo and seconded by Commissioner Caron. Passed 8-0. 3. Fundraising Information Item Updated on the gift baskets. 4. Youth Commission Social Media postings Information Item Tabled to next month’s meeting. 5. Letters to Editor and Council Action Item Update would be provided through email. 6. Budget Report Information Item Commissioner Enriquez reported no updates. 7. Summer Retreat Discussion Item Updated on prices. 8. Adopt a Street-city clean up Action Item  Motioned by Commissioner Caron and seconded by Commissioner Cullers. Motion passed 8-0. 9. Fashion Show Project Discussion Item Mentor Harris and the subcommittee reported on the final steps for execution. 10. Alexis liaison to council Discussion Item Support and reminder needed for Commissioner Gold. 11. Galt Herald article highlight Discussion Item Commissioner Sosa reported on the lifted mask requirements at school. Commissioner Caron for the next month’s report. 12. Recruitment Discussion/Action Item Motion approved for the recruitment deadline of April 22, 2022. Motioned by Commissioner Gold and seconded by Commissioner Kaur. Motion passed 8-0. Subcommittee: Genevieve (head), Ysabella, Jasan, Lauren, and Alexis. 13. City Council update Discussion Item Mayor Farmer updated the commission on the recent and upcoming city council meetings. 14. Future Agenda Items Information Item - Vote on letters - Social media - Recruitment - Coffee shop meet up 15. Around the Horn/Give Your Gratitude Discussion Item Commissioners shared community updates and gratitude. Meeting adjourned at 7:47pm.
