GALT YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

Mission Statement
- Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens.
- Stimulate community service in Galt
- Encourage family participation in building civic unity.
- Strive to emphasize the diversity in our culture by encouraging interaction within the community.
- Collaborate with organizations devoted to the growth of youth
- Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families.
A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE
Chair Cuevas Murillo called the meeting to order at 6:06pm.
B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners: Akers, Caron, Cuevas Murillo, Cullers, Enriquez, Gold,
Kaur, Ramirez, Sosa
Mentors: Harris, Hill J, Hill M, Klotz, Lampson, Mayor Farmer
Absent: Mentor Hill M
Commissioner Kaur arrived at 6:10pm.
C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Breath California would like help with sending educational packets to the
council.
D. PRESENTATIONS- None
E. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. Icebreaker Information Item
Mentor Klotz facilitated an icebreaker; two lies and a truth.
2. Fashion Show Project Discussion Item
A recap of the event was made. Tracie Cross expressed gratitude to the commission for their help and
made a $100 donation to the commission.
3. Fundraising Information Item
Extravaganza-Kite Day gift basket raffle update.
4. Youth Commission Social Media postings Information Item
Commissioner Ramirez is in the talks of sending Amy posts and pictures for social media.
5. Letters to Editor and Council Discussion Item
Tabled for next month’s meeting.
6. Budget Report Information Item
Commissioner Enriquez reported no updates.
7. Summer Retreat Action Item
Date: July 27th. Place: Big Trees. Approval passed 9-0. Motioned by Commissioner Cuevas Murillo
and seconded by Commissioner Sosa.
Motion to approve a trip fee to not exceed $1000, counting for a $60 tour, $250 speaker fee, a
possible donation, and fuel and food costs, passed 9-0. Motioned by Commissioner Gold and
seconded by Commissioner Cullers.
8. Adopt a Street-city clean up Discussion Item
Recap of clean with Horizon church.
9. Approval of minutes for the meeting of March 7, 2022 Action Item
Approval passed with the change Enriquez of being absent to Ramirez, the date, and the change of
“City Hall Community Room.” Motioned by Commissioner Ramirez and seconded by Commissioner
Gold. 9-0
10. Alexis Gold liaison to council Discussion Item
Commissioner Gold updated on how the city council meeting went.
11. Galt Herald article highlight Discussion Item
Commissioner Caron reported on the sports section. Commissioner Enriquez for the next month’s
report.
12. Recruitment Discussion Item
Updated on the process of recruitment.
13 Ice Cream Social Discussion Item
Short welcome event for new commissioners on 5/19. 7-8pm.
14. City Council update Discussion Item
Mayor Farmer updated the commission on current city news.
