Meeting Minutes, November 6, 2023
Meeting held in City Council Chambers

A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Joshua Cullers, Chair, called meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
B. ROLL CALL: Adult Mentors Present: Fjeldstad, Goerzen, King, Lampson, Mayor
Vandenburg,
Youth Members Present: Akers, Bowman, Brixey, Bulahan, Murillo Cuevas, Cullers, Jones,
Lallian, Ortega, Sandhu
C. PUBLIC COMMENT: Leesa Klotz with Galt Sunrise Rotary shared appreciation for
Christmas dinner and offered/shared the Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening (RYLA) student
camp to juniors on commission.
D. PRESENTATIONS: None
E. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. Icebreaker
Adult Mentor King had commission share/convince the remainder of Commission why their
favorite song/movie is the best and why in 30 seconds.
2. Approval of minutes for the meeting of October 2, 2023
Changes of all abstains to 0 and changing of Sandhu spelling on business object number 8.
Moved: Bulahan Second: Akers Ayes: 10 Nays: 0 Abstain: 0
3. January 1st meeting
January 1st meeting was moved to January 8th 2024.
Moved: Akers Second: Jones Ayes: 10 Nays: 0 Abstain: 0
4. Trick or Treat
Chair Cullers lead discussion with the Commission on the experience at the Trick or Treat event
in downtown Galt.
5. Lincoln Way adopt a street
Commissioners shared participation count for Lincoln way adopt a street in November.
6. Meal with Special Education (SPED) students at each high school
Commissioner Jones shared possible ideas for lunch with high school students of Sacramento
County Office of Education (SCOE) with commissioners. Subcommittee formed, led by Jones
with the help of Bulahan, Akers, and Ortega. No action taken. Tabled.
7. Youth Survey for High Schools
Lallian shared updates for survey, said a QR code needs to still be made for survey but it is all
approved. No action taken.
8. Senior Tech Project
Subcommittee for the Senior Tech Project updated on location options.
9. Galt Library Project
Commissioner Akers recruited a subcommittee consisting of Sandhu, Bowman, Bulahan, and
Murillo Cuevas to help with the Galt Library Project.
10. Lighting of the Night Float
Sub- committee lead by Brixey assisted by Murillo Cuevas, Jones, and Cullers - shared plans for
Lighting of the Night Float.

Commissioners shared gratitude around the horn

C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may
address the commission on any item of interest to the public. Speakers may address commission on
any agenda item during consideration of the item. Please come to the podium and limit your
comments to three (3) minutes.
