Chairperson: Joe Bitondo Commission: Angela DaPrato, Kelly Keagy, Chris Smith, Janice Williams 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER at 7:01 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: a. Commissioners Present: Keagy, DaPrato, Williams, Bitondo b. Commissioners Absent: Smith 3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF AGENDA a. Item 6, Volunteer Presentation – Moved ahead of Item 4, Public Comment 1. Vice Mayor Crews, Council Member Lampson thanked the Commissioners individually for their volunteer services and City Clerk Settles presented each with a gift from the City. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may address the commission on non-agenda items. Speakers may also address the commission on any agenda item during consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Please fill out a speaker sheet located on the table inside the entrances to the council chambers and forward the completed speaker sheet to the commission secretary. Please state your name and city of residence prior to making your comments. 5. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES FOR THE MEETING OF OCTOBER 10, 2018 a. Minutes of the Meeting of October 10, 2018. 1. Motion to approve the meeting minutes of October 10, 2018 was made by Commissioner DaPrato. 2. A second to the motion was made by Commissioner Keagy. 3. Roll-call vote, all in favor. 6. PRESENTATIONS a. Volunteer Presentation 7. OLD BUSINESS a. National Fitness Equipment and Grant 1. The Parks & Recreation Dept. will be applying for grants for both the Community Park and Walker Park. GALT PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA MEETING OF NOVEMBER 14, 2018 Page 2 2. Grant applications are due June of 2019. b. Digital Freeway Billboard 1. Approved by the Planning Commission and City Council on the 1st reading. 2. The second reading will be held at the 12/4 City Council meeting. 3. Unable to approve sharing funding with the school district per the City Attorney. 8. NEW BUSINESS 9. UPCOMING COUNCIL AGENDA ITEMS 10. UPCOMING EVENTS a. Lighting of the Night – 12/1/18 b. Winter Bird Festival – 2/2/19 11. STAFF COMMENTS a. Galt Herald ran a front page story regarding the $4.4 million for Deferred Maintenance. All non-essential work is on hold in the parks funds 006, 032, 033 and 037. Public Works will be holding workshops to decide about lights, pruning and mowing. Commissioners will be notified when workshops will be held. b. Redwood tree removal from SMUD Park was necessary due to the trees growing into the electrical lines. SMUD owns the property, the City has a lease to use as a park. 12. COMMISSIONERS REPORTS/COMMENTS a. Commissioner Bitondo – May or may not come back, it’s been a pleasure, Parks & Recreation is important to me. b. Commissioner DaPrato – When is next council meeting? Per Director Solis, it is 12/4 at 6:00 p.m. Thanked Director Solis for helping the community, will not be re-applying for commissioner. c. Commissioner Keagy – Nothing d. Commissioner Smith – Absent e. Commissioner Williams – Nothing at this time, have a nice Thanksgiving. 13.
