Vice-Chairperson: Carrie Graham Commission: Ernie Cason Jr., John McNamara, Chris Smith 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER at 6:01 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: a. Commissioners Present: McNamara, Smith, Cason, Graham b. Commissioners Absent: 3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF AGENDA 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may address the Parks and Recreation Commission on non-agenda items. The public comments section is for the Parks and Recreation Commission to receive comments; except for brief response to questions, no discussion or action may be taken on any item that is not listed on the agenda. Please limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Please fill out a speaker sheet located on the table inside the entrances to the council chambers and forward the completed speaker sheet to the commission secretary. Please state your name and city of residence prior to making your comments. a. Public Comment: Chris Brossman commented about the Skate Park Expansion 5. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES a. Minutes of the meeting of November 8, 2023 b. Commissioner Smith made a motion to accept the minutes of the November 8, 2023, Parks & Recreation Commission meeting. c. Commissioner Cason made a second to the motion to accept the minutes of the November 8, 2023, Parks & Recreation Commission meeting. d. All present in favor, minutes accepted. 6. PRESENTATIONS GALT PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA OF JANUARY 10, 2024 MEETING Page 2 7. NEW BUSINESS a. Gora Aquatic Center Slide Replacement Recommendation i. Public Comment: Harry Wensel commented about the Slide Replacement ii. Recommendation #1: a. Commissioner Smith made a motion to recommend Option #3, Commissioner Graham made a second to the motion. b. Upon a roll-call vote of 2-2 the recommendation did not pass. iii. Recommendation #2: a. Commission McNamara made a motion to recommend Option #2, Commissioner Cason made a second to the motion. b. Upon a roll-call vote of 2-2 the recommendation did not pass. iv. Recommendation #3: a. Commissioner Graham made a motion to recommend Option #3, Commissioner Smith made a second to the motion. b. Upon a roll-call vote 3-1, the recommendation passed. b. Chabolla Skate Park Improvement Options Recommendation i. Public Comment: a. Tom Malson commented about the Skate Park b. Harry Wensel commented about the Skate Park c. Nathan Ebersole commented about the Skate Park d. Chris Brossman commented about the Skate Park ii. Recommendation: a. Commissioner Cason made a motion to recommend the Expanded Option, Commissioner Graham made a second to the motion. b. Upon a roll-call vote 3-1, the recommendation passed. 8. OLD BUSINESS a.
