CITY OF GALT PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS 380 CIVIC DRIVE, GALT CA 95632 JULY 10, 2024 AT 6:00 P.M. Chairperson: Commission: Chris Brossman, Ernie Cason Jr., Carrie Graham, John McNamara, and Chris Smith 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER at 6:04 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: a. Commissioners Present: Brossman, Cason, Graham, McNamara b. Commissioners Absent: Smith 3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF AGENDA  Director Solis moved line item 7a, before public comment. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may address the Parks and Recreation Commission on non-agenda items. The public comments section is for the Parks and Recreation Commission to receive comments; except for brief response to questions, no discussion or action may be taken on any item that is not listed on the agenda. Please limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Please fill out a speaker sheet located on the table inside the entrances to the council chambers and forward the completed speaker sheet to the commission secretary. Please state your name and city of residence prior to making your comments. 5. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES a. Minutes of the meeting of May 08, 2024  Commissioner Cason made a motion to accept the minutes of the May 8, 2024, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.  Commissioner Smith seconded the motion to accept the minutes of the May 8, 2024, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.  All present in favor, minutes accepted. 6. PRESENTATIONS a. Lighting and Landscape District Map b. Weed Abatement Map  Director Solis reviewed Parks Division maintenance area.  Parks Division now has three spray technicians. 7. NEW BUSINESS GALT PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA OF JULY 10, 2024 MEETING Page 2 a. Introduction of new Commissioner  Commissioner Brossman introduced himself. b. Election – Chairperson  Commissioner Cason nominated Commissioner Graham for Chairperson.  Commissioner Brossman seconded the nomination.  Roll call vote of 4-0, Commissioner Graham was elected Chairperson.  Commissioner Cason nominated Commissioner McNamara for Co- Chairperson.  Commissioner Graham seconded the nomination.  Roll call vote of 4-0, Commissioner McNamara was elected Co- Chairperson. c. Budget Briefing  Reviewed by Director Solis d. Annual Report 9/17  Commissioner Graham to present Annual Report at the City Council meeting on September 17, 2024. 8. OLD BUSINESS a. Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan Update  City is currently providing information to RHAA to send out mailers to Galt residents. b. Chabolla Skate Park Update  RFP is currently being put together by Public Works Department; Director Solis hopes to send it out within 60 days.  Director Solis reminded commissioners that City Council approved the $ 2.4 million dollars to expand.  The city is currently going out for proposals. c. Gora Aquatic Center Slide Project Update  The city is currently working on the specifications for RFP.  Director Solis informed the commissioners that the project is expected to be done by July 4, 2025, installed and ready to go.  Current project on the small pool should be completed within a week and a half. 9. UPCOMING COUNCIL AGENDA ITEMS  Annual Presentation on September 17, 2024.  Council asked that T-Ball and Basketball fees be removed and be brought back to be voted on in the first meeting in September. 10. UPCOMING EVENTS a. Food, Friends & Military Tanks – 7/3 b. Independence Day Celebration, including the Officer Kevin Tonn Memorial 5K Run, Parade & Saturday Market – 7/4 GALT PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA OF JULY 10, 2024 MEETING Page 3  Nearly 100 runners for Tonn Memorial 5K Run  Drones in the air  New starting point because of the C Street Project  Over 75 participants in the parade  Saturday Market 5-7 people deep c. Fireworks in the Pool – 7/4  Reduced by 100 due to small pool not ready  Director Solis thanked his team for pulling off another great event  Director Solis thanked Public Works and the Police Department for helping with traffic control d. Kiwanis Days at the Pool – 7/13, 7/14, 8/10 & 8/11  All children under 17 to come in free on dates listed e. Sounds of Summer Concert Series – 7/13 & 8/10  Latin, Salsa Night on July 13, 2024  R&B, Soul, Pop and Dance on August 10, 2024 f. National Night Out – 8/6  Will take place at Community Park, Meadowview Park and Sports Complex. 11. STAFF COMMENTS  Director Solis thanked all his staff. 12. COMMISSIONERS REPORTS/COMMENTS a.
