CITY OF GALT PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM 455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA Monday, January 24, 2022, 6:00 PM The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:02pm by Mayor Farmer. Committee Members present were: Chair Farmer, Vice Chair McCord, Sandhu, Schamber, and Cates. Absent: Reed, and Schopt. Staff Members present were: Police Chief Kalinowski Mayor Farmer led us as we pledged allegiance to the American Flag. PUBLIC COMMENT: No Public Comment PRESENTATION: Officer Hammack presented Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipment and program options for the Galt Police Department. Members asked questions and provided support for the concept of the program. The City Council will hear the item in the spring for consideration of approval. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION: 1. The minutes from the October 18, 2021 meeting were reviewed and approved with changes by motion from Vice Mayor Sandhu and second by Farmer and unanimous vote 5-0. 2. Member Cates brought forward a concern regarding an increase in homeless issues seen in the community. The Chief discussed some approaches being used by the police department. The Chief noted a count will occur county wide in February which is a one month delay due to Covid related issues. 3. Traffic Concerns: The following locations were noted for extra enforcement needs: E Street & Lincoln, Elm Street & Orr, Vintage Oak/Cedar Flats and Colson, A Street & Emerald Oak, and Elm & Industrial. The items will be passed to patrol/traffic for monitoring or enforcement. 4. Possible Appointment of Chair: This item was brought by Chair Farmer to consider someone other than an elected official be the Chair, consistent with other commissions. This items was requested to be added to the next agenda so all members could be present and discuss. UPDATES: 1. Chief Kalinowski provided an update on traffic reported issues to the police department. The following stats were provided: Month: Dispatch Calls: Email/phone/other November 12 0 December 23 3 To Jan 19, 22 11 1 The Chair requested that social media be used to remind residents how to report issues in the community. 2. Chief Kalinowski provided an update on the awarding of the Tobacco grant application. The item is scheduled for City Council on Feb 1. 2022. The grant is for 3 years. It will cover the installation of 18 detectors, decoy and educational activities. CORRESPONDENCE: No correspondence. COMMENTS BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS: No items or topics were brought forward beyond the items discussed in the meeting. Next meeting is scheduled for March 28, 2022. With no further business, Mayor Farmer adjourned the meeting at approximately 7:08 pm.

Consistent with Executive Order N-29-20, the meeting will be held via teleconference/electronically and the Committee Members will participate via teleconference/electronically. In-person participation by the public will not be permitted and no physical location from which the public may observe the meeting will be available.
