CITY OF GALT PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM 455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2024, 6:00 PM The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by Committee Member Cates. Committee Members present were: Cates, K. Sandhu and Selby. Non-Voting Member Mayor Paul Sandhu. Absent: Chair Reed and Vice Chair Schamber. Staff Members present were: Police Chief Kalinowski, Executive Assistant Wendy Masters, John Griffin PW Director. We pledged allegiance to the American Flag. PUBLIC COMMENT: None PRESENTATION: None ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION: 1. Approval of Minutes from the July 22, 2024 meeting: The Minutes from the July 22, 2024 meeting were reviewed and approved with a motion by Cates and seconded by Selby. Approved with a vote of 3-0. 2. Traffic control on C Street: Public Works Director John Griffin responded. He said construction is moving forward and gave insight on what the next phase will involve. 3. School threats and violence update: Police Chief Kalinowski responded. He discussed the following items:  The recent school shooting in Georgia.  The recent gun threats directed towards Galt schools and Lodi schools.  Governor Newsom has recently signed a bill restricting students using cell phones during school, effective in 2026. First Baptist Church - Galt Fire Inspection: Deputy Fire Chief Troy Bair responded, stating there are no issues. 5. Streetlights out in the areas of Blackhurst, Tottenham and Maugham Drive on the evening of September 4, 2024: Police Chief Kalinowski and Public Works Director John Griffin responded. This issue has been resolved. UPDATES: 1. Public Works Director John Griffin gave an update regarding the truck parking on Amador Avenue. He provided a Permitted Truck Route map. He also discussed plans for future truck parking areas to be located on the West side of town. 2. Police Chief Kalinowski will research parking time limits for Amador Avenue. CORRESPONDENCE: None COMMENTS BY COMMITTEE MEMBERS: 1. Committee Member K. Sandhu discussed Semi-Trucks parking in unpermitted parking areas that could cause safety concerns on the East side of town. 2. Police Chief Kalinowski will research Semi-Truck loading/unloading time restrictions for the Wal-Mart located on Twin Cities Road. ADJOURNMENT: With no further business, Police Chief Kalinowski adjourned the meeting at 6:20 pm. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 25, 2024.
