CITY OF GALT PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM 455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, September 22, 2014, 6:00 PM Vice Mayor Singleton called the meeting to order at 6:01pm. The roll call found Singleton, Lagge, Doak, Bezanson, and Shelton present. We saluted the American Flag. The minutes of the last meeting were presented to all members, no changes were recommended. Shelton moved that the minutes be accepted, Lagge seconded. Motion carried. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION: McCune wasn’t present, so we tabled item D, 3, A until the next meeting. Bezanson inquired about accidents in the area of the “no left turns” out of Raleys. Lt. Kalinowski presented the numbers of Traffic Stops, citations issued and collisions. Although this information was welcomed, the committee requested a timeline breakdown of the numbers be provided at the next meeting. ROUND TABLE: Lagge commented on the yellow bump warning strips being used for ADA compliance, noting that the bumps are really hard on some with disabilities. Shelton brought up the new law requiring vehicles give bicyclists three feet clearance when passing. Kalinowski added that the department is aware of the new law but has not trained on the topic. Shelton also mentioned the soccer field, voicing his concern over Sacramento Football having rented the turf, but brought loud music, marijuana and alcohol along as well. Kalinowski advised he was aware of the issues and they are being addressed. Singleton reminded the committee of the new PAL program and it’s efforts to provide afer school programs. Our next meeting will be at 6:00 PM Monday, November 24th , 2014. Meeting was adjourned at 6:33pm.
