`` June 13, 2017 City of Glendale Official Minutes – Fourth of July Committee Meeting Present: Robin Benedon MaryLynn Cinealis Eric Zentner Stacie Bishop Jenna Kunde Trinny Schumann Marty Hersh Dave Hinman The Meeting was called to order at 6:33 pm and began with the Pledge of Allegiance. We discussed whether people could make June 28th for the next meeting. Several people can’t make it. We will change it to Monday, June 26th. Jenna reported that for fundraising we raised more than we expected in every category. In booklet sales, we have a 28-page booklet this year (we had 26 pages last year). Marty reported that scout families will be distributing booklets to 16 of the 26 neighborhoods so far and asked if any committee members would like to volunteer to distribute booklets. People delivering can pick up at Parkway School Saturday Morning from 9am – 11am. Anyone who can’t make that time can pick them up from Eric and Jenna’s house (7306 N. Pierron Rd.). MaryLynn reported that all the shirts, polos and T-shirts, are here and people can take them. Robin reported that for the children’s parade, we have mini beach balls, Dickey’s coupons from Marty and more. We should be getting coupons from Dr. Dawg and some others. Ann is getting some stuff from Oriental Trading. Robin is getting cookies. Jenna reported that for the Parade Bryan and Jill put together the lineup yesterday. MaryLynn has the cars she needs. Trinny reported that we are set with stage acts. We won’t have the Orange Whips because they will be at Summerfest, but we will have the Whiskey Belles. Magic Rivers (high school band) backed out, so now we have School of Rock from Shorewood High School. Trinny is in contact with Total Control. 8 people are registered for the talent show, and Trinny is suggesting we don’t have it next year. We are getting $300 from Bayshore (for three first prizes). We need some runner-up prizes, so we will purchase some gift cards for those prizes. Trinny is the stage manager for the “Stars and Stripes” stage (North) and Stacey Steele volunteered to stage manage the “Liberty” (South) stage. Trinny is the contact for stage acts; she will direct them to the appropriate stage. We discussed the fact that we’ll be putting up four large banner-type signs along Glendale streets to advertise the event. One at Good Hope and the Parkway. One at Silver Spring and the Parkway. Green Bay and the service road. Bender and Milwaukee River Parkway. Jenna drew a picture of the park and attempted to show the committee where the summer soak will be. This was entertaining for all. There was much appreciation of her palm tree. The firetruck will park on the parkway just south of the parking lot with their hose spraying over the grass south of the parking lot. `` Eric needs to know the electrical needs for each of the food vendors. Lt. Hinman needs copies of our vendor list so they can see who is allowed to drive in. Jenna will follow up with Bryan about whether he has procured bike racks. Eric will talk to Shawn about additional lighting for after the fireworks to help vendors take their equipment down. Eric will ask Shawn to connect with County Parks to get picnic tables to the area (and 10 near Green Bay and 4 on the east side of the Parkway). Jenna reported for Kids games and activities we are planning to have basketball. There was a discussion about the fact that people will play unofficial games after the official basketball program. It was decided that it will be okay if people do this and if it does become a problem, we will just move the hoop onto the grass. Jenna talked to owner of Northshore Preschool and Childcare. They are coming again, but Jenna was very clear with the owner that they can’t charge money, they can’t use the tables for personal picnics, and they can’t do Henna. Jenna talked to the Bavarian Bierhaus about their games, but this will probably not happen for this year. No reports on food vendors. Jenna doesn’t think anyone has contacted Chippies. Trinny will email them. Steve from Sprecher will bring bean-bag toss equipment. Trinny suggested that we have water for stage acts, and Lt. Hinman offered that he has two large coolers we can use (one for each stage). Lt. Hinman reported that he asked Dave Eastman for barricades and Dave said Shawn usually takes care of this. The Police Dept. is very short on people (no academy or auxiliary people and some vacations). Lt. Eichorn will be in charge of the Parade. We will have four officers and a Sgt. for the fireworks. We have two parking guards and two bike patrol officers. It will be hard to get all the staff they need, but our event will be fully covered. Jenna reported that if there is extra money in the budget, we will use that for additional fireworks. We still need volunteers during the day. So please pitch it to your friends and family to volunteer. Also, please promote the event on social media. Next Meeting The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 26th at 6:30 pm. The meeting was adjourned at 7:43 pm.
