Village of Grantsburg 316 Brad Street South Grantsburg, WI 54840 Administration Committee Meeting Minutes The Village Administration Committee met on Monday June 9th at 3:00 p.m. in the Village Board room, 316 Brad St S, Grantsburg, WI 54840. Present: Chairman/President Rick Lindberg Trustee Greg Peer Trustee Hank Java Others: Clerk/Treasurer Sheila Meyer Trustee John Addison Pool Manager Julie Fiedler GRO – Nicki Peterson, Natalie Finch, Sonja Rikkola Chief Jared Woody in at 3:35 p.m. President Lindberg called the Administration Committee Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Tim Michels – Possible use of solid waste transfer station on Gary Street Tim Michaels was not able to appear but will schedule a time to meet in the future. Splashpad – future costs, admission fees The committee asked GRO members to attend to discuss grant restrictions, potential fees, and ongoing costs. Nicki was not able to recall if grant funding for the Splashpad had restrictions in regard to user fees, but she did say that in all of the presentations it was clear that the Splashpad would be free for all users. Natalie agreed that fees would only be a barrier to families in our community and that the small fee wouldn’t provide enough of an offset to make a difference in the overall costs of operations. Though the GRO group had not met for several years and they do not wish to continue to regularly fundraise to cover operating costs, they would rather host a meat raffle or other fundraising event to at least keep it free to users. Sonja suggested the GRO group post a sign at the splashpad with a QR code to allow users to donate. Julie agrees that the splashpad will likely bring in more users to the pool and increase concession sales, but she doesn’t want her fundraised dollars to cover splashpad expenses. The committee discussed the first season will be a learning year to see what the actual operating costs are. GRO out at 3:34 p.m. Pool – 2026 Pool painting project Pool Manager Fiedler reviewed the quote provided for sandblasting and painting services. Currently the pool is painted each year, and it has been some time since it has been sandblasted so the new coats are not lasting. Annual painting costs are between $5-6,000 so the expected life of 5-7 years the company offers, our costs would remain stable. The committee asked Fielder to reach out to the company regarding the pool’s winterization process and how that would effect the life of their work and to get a more detailed cost breakdown. No motions made. Fiedler left the meeting at 3:47 p.m. Motion by Peer second by Trustee Java to convene into closed session. Motion carried. THE ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE WILL CONVENE INTO CLOSED SESSION to discuss the Clerk/Treasurer and Deputy Clerk/Treasurer positions pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85 (1)(c) “Considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the government has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.” THE ADMINSITATION COMMITTEE WIL RECONVENE INTO OPEN SESSION pursuant to Wis. Stats. 19.85 (2). Motion by Trustee Java second by Trustee Peer to reconvene into open session. Motion carried. Any motions needed from closed session Motion by Trustee Peer second by Trustee Java to recommend the Village Board allow Clerk/Treasurer Meyer to proceed with succession process and training to prepare Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Longhenry to transition into the Clerk/Treasurer position upon Meyer’s retirement.
