Present: Chairman/Trustee Greg Peer Trustee John Addison Trustee Sam Campeau Others: Clerk/Treasurer Sheila Meyer Chief Jared Woody Police Office Administrator Larissa Lee President Rick Lindberg Town of Grantsburg Chairman Dutch Shultz Resident Stan Cherry Chairman Peer called the Public Safety Committee Meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Property Maintenance questions and review Chief Woody informed the committee there were no new photos due to the extra work with Watercross. The Police Department requested the timeline be extended for letters to be 6 weeks rather than 30 days, which allows residents more time to fix their violations. Woody indicated there have been several contacts with residents and properties continue to see improvement. The committee discussed an email from a resident who received two notices. The concerns prompted discussion on editing the letters to provide more detail on a property’s specific violation. Clerk/Treasurer Meyer informed the committee she will draft a response to the resident along with Chief Woody. Meyer asked if there were volunteer groups that could help residents clean up their homes and yards. All participants agreed that more specific wording could be used to better inform residents of violations and lessen calls or contacts with questions. No letters or citations were discussed or issued. Chairman Shultz – 443 North Avenue E. Dutch provided an update on the progress of the Town’s recently purchased property. He indicated the remaining violations will be taken care of. He also suggested edits for the letter to come across less harsh to the reader. The committee thanked Chairman Shultz for the work the property and will review the letters. Stan Cherry – 325 Harmon Avenue E. Stan provided an update on the progress of his property. He has most of the pallets stacked and others removed from the property. He will not be doing business there as he had previously planned.
