City Council Meetings

City of Green River, City Council Workshop Proceedings for August 11, 2020, 6:30 pm, Council Chambers, Mayor Pete Rust called the meeting to order. The following Council Members were present: Gary Killpack, Robert Berg, Mike Shutran, Lisa Maes and Tom Murphy. The following were present representing the City: City Administrator Reed Clevenger, Communications Administrator Steve Core, Director of Public Works Mark Westenskow and Parks & Recreation Director Brad Raney. (A) Discussion on the Maintenance of Alley and Right- of-Ways within the City Limits; (B) Discussion on the Maintenance of Trees in the City’s Right- of-Ways. Brad gave a brief overview of the current policy and relevant Ordinances regarding the maintenance of trees on personal property and city right-of-ways. Maintenance on the alleys and right-of-way’s have not been kept up like before because of staffing issues. In the past the City has had the staffing and budget to keep up with the alleyways and right-of-way’s but it is not the case now. He said due to staffing restrictions and availability, certain trimming and weed clearing hasn’t been done this year. Staff is trying hard to keep up but it is a challenge. The maintenance is both the homeowner’s responsibility and the City’s and if everyone pitches in and helps, even if it is volunteering to do so, then we might be able to keep up with it. Ultimately, it is up to everyone to keep the City looking good.
