City Council Meetings

City of Green River, City Council Joint Special Workshop Proceedings for January 13, 2021, 5:30 pm, held in person at the City of Rock Springs Council Chambers and virtually through Zoom. The following Council Members were present: Gary Killpack, Robert Berg, Sherry Bushman, George Jost and Jim Zimmerman. The following were present representing the City: City Administrator Reed Clevenger, Director of Finance Chris Meats, Communications Administrator Steve Core, Assistance Fire Chief Larry Erdman and Parks & Recreation Director Brad Raney. Attending as well are: Sweetwater County Commissioners and staff, City of Rock Springs, Town of Granger, Town of Superior, Town of Bairoil and Town of Wamsutter. Topics for Discussion: Ambulance – Discussion on which communities wanted to take part in appointing someone to a commission to oversee the Sweetwater Medics ambulance that the County will no longer be funding as of March 2021. Special Purpose Tax 6th Penny – Discussion on who will be appointed to the 6th Penny Commission from each community. Joint Communications – Discussion on who will be appointed to the Joint Powers Combined Communications Commission from each community. There is a growing concern on the increasing costs that are being charged every year since the Combined Communications Center was built. Creating the Communications Center was supposed to save money for all involved. Joint Airport – Discussion on who will be appointed to the Joint Powers Airport Commission from each community. It was decided to wait on this appointment so it can be discussed at a later date. Joint Telecom – Discussion on who will be appointed from the County and both Cities. It was decided to wait since there are plans to add the County to the Board and everyone would like to see how it works for a while before they make any changes. Sweetwater Economic Development Commission (SEDC) – Added to the agenda, to discuss the importance of communication with all entities involved and to appoint someone from each entity to the SEDC commission. Centralized Inventory – Discussion on centralizing purchasing for communities that would like to and appointing someone from each community to be on the commission. It was decided to discuss the remaining items at the next joint meeting. The next meeting will be February 3, 2021 at 5:30. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:51 pm.
