CITY COUNCIL MEETING May 10, 2021 The Greenville City Council convened in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Monday, May 10, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. for a regular Council meeting. Mayor Dexter McLendon called the meeting to order. In the absence of City Clerk Treasurer Dee Blackmon, Nicki Hunt called the roll and recorded the following members present: Mayor McLendon, Councilmembers Bryan Reynolds, Ed Sims, Joseph West, Jae’Ques Brown, and Boris Thigpen. Mayor McLendon led those attending in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Councilmember Brown delivered the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mayor McLendon advised each councilmember had received for review a copy of the proposed minutes for the Regular Council Meeting held on April 26, 2021. He asked if there were any additions, deletions or amendments to the minutes as presented. Councilmember West moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve the minutes for April 26, 2021, as drafted . Councilmember Thigpen seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION 2021-19. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR AN AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT GRANT FROM THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION FOR THE AIRPORT TAXIWAY CONNECTOR RELOCATION. Mayor McLendon explained Resolution 2021-19 is an application for an airport grant, which is 100% federally funded grant so no local match is required. This year’s grant focus is for the Airport Taxiway Connector Relocation. Councilmember Sims moved to adopt Resolution 2021-19 authorizing application for an airport improvement grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for the Airport Taxiway Connector Relocation. Councilmember Reynolds seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the council. APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES: Councilmember Reynolds made a motion to approve the following expenditures: DANIEL INGRAM - $3,000.00 (BUDGETED ITEM) UMPIRE AND CHIEF-SCHEDULING UMPIRES FOR ALL RECREATION LEAGUE GAMES MOORE & DAVID NURSERY - $1,138.25 (BUDGETED ITEM) PLANTS & SHRUBS FOR HORTICULTURE DEPT. OZARK MATERIALS - $1,199.40 (BUDGETED ITEM) 30 GALLONS WHITE TRAFFIC PAINT AND 30 GALLONS YELLOW TRAFFIC PAINT Councilmember Sims seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion passed with unanimous vote of the Council. OTHER BUSINESS: WEED AND DEBRIS VIOLATIONS: ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADJOURNMENT: Mayor McLendon announced the next regular council meeting will be held Monday, May 24, 2021.
