CITY COUNCIL MEETING December 20, 2021 The Greenville City Council convened in the Council Chamber of City Hall on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. for a regular Council meeting. Mayor Dexter McLendon called the meeting to order. City Clerk – Treasurer Dee Blackmon called the roll and recorded the following members present: Mayor McLendon, Councilmembers Ed Sims, Joseph West, Jae’Ques Brown, and Boris Thigpen. Councilmember Bryan Reynolds was absent. Mayor McLendon led those attending in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Councilmember Brown delivered the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mayor McLendon advised each councilmember had received for review a copy of the proposed minutes for the Regular Council Meeting held on December 13, 2021. He asked if there were any additions, deletions or amendments to the minutes as presented. Councilmember Thigpen moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve the minutes for December 13, 2021, as drafted . Councilmember West seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the Council. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION 2021-69. AUTHORIZE THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO ENTER INTO A SCOREBOARD AGREEMENT WITH MONTGOMERY COCA COLA. Councilmember Sims moved to adopt Resolution 2021-69 authorizing the Parks and Recreation Department to enter into a scoreboard agreement with Montgomery Coca Cola. Councilmember Thigpen seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the council. RESOLUTION 2021-70. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF THE TITLE III OLDER AMERICANS ACT GRANT AWARD FOR FY 2021-22 AND TO ACCEPT CONDITIONS OF FUNDING AGREEMENT FOR PROGRAM WITH SOUTH CENTRAL ALABAMA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AREA AGENCY ON AGING (SCADC). Mayor McLendon stated Resolution 2021-70 is a recurring grant in the amount of $28,443.00. This grant is used to pay a portion of salaries and transportation costs for the Nutrition program. Councilmember West moved to adopt Resolution 2021-70 which accept s the Title III grant award for 2021-2022. Councilmember Sims seconded the motion. Mayor McLendon announced the motion carried with a unanimous vote of the council. APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURES: OTHER BUSINESS: WEED AND DEBRIS VIOLATIONS: ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADJOURNMENT: Mayor McLendon announced the next council meeting will be held Monday January 10, 2022.
