Greenwich, Ohio 44837 (419) 752-2441 November 1, 2016 Moment of silence Pledge Roll Call Council met in regular session with following members present: Phillips, Shoemaker, King, Lloyd, Wilson, Bovia, Chief Dorsey, Administrator Giles, Mayor Wes Sallee, Attorney Palmer, Utility Billing Clerk/Tax Admin Jennifer Meyer, and Zoning Inspector Inmon. Absence: None Clerks Report: N/A Lloyd move to accept the minutes of October 18th, 2016. Wilson seconded; Vote as follows: Phillips Yes, Lloyd Yes, King Yes, Bovia Yes, Wilson Yes, and Shoemaker Abstained, Shoemaker moved to pay bills in the amount of $35,553.69. Mrs. Bovia spoke as a representative of the Greenwich Improvement Group and to what events that are coming up to look forward to. G.I.G. will be having it’s Hometown Christmas again this year and it will be held on December 3rd and 4th, 2016. Business will remain open again on both days and there will be a parade on December 3rd, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The Tree Lighting will be on December 4th, 2016 at 6:00 PM. There will be hot dogs, hot coco, cookies and singing (this time there will be a microphone present). Virgil Giles is currently in the process of finding a great tree for the Christmas ceremony and Gayle wanted to give a special thanks ahead of time for the utility workers for putting up the tree and decorating it as well as maintaining it. Caroling will be on the 11th of December, 2016 and on the 18th of December, 2016 the Mennonites will sing carols to the shut-ins. Mrs. Bovia had one request for council to see if there could be an additional smaller tree set up for the memorial bulbs to be placed. The bulbs were falling off the bigger tree and she is concerned that it may get people upset that have purchased these memorial bulbs. Chief Dorsey volunteered for the placement of that tree to be located in the front lobby of the Police Department. One last note is, that the Veterans Memorial Committee is looking for a place to expand and discussion is taking place. Mr. Aumend spoke of the Reservoir and the Dam possibly cracking and even though the city’s utility workers is maintaining it, he had an idea of taking a backhoe to the front of the dam and cleaning (dredging) it. Mayor Sallee stated that Administrator Giles and the Army Core of Engineers is working together with O.D.N.R (Ohio Department of Natural Resources) to find grants and to come up with the correct plan to dredge it. Fire Board 11/7 @ 7:00 PM Ambulance Board 11/14 @ 7:00 PM Committee Reports: N/A Reports to Council: Administrator’s Report: Administrator Giles spoke of the Nature Works Grant. Greenwich did qualify and should see the grant money next year. Police Chief’s Report: Chief Dorsey stated that Trick or Treat went off with no incidences. The traffic cam had issued a ticket to someone for going 75 mph around 10:00 PM and the paper work will be issued shortly. Zoning Inspector: Inspector Inmon stated that he has turned in the zoning reports for the year and that they have been turned in to Norwalk. Solicitor’s Report: N/A Mayor’s Report: Mayor Sallee reminded everyone that the clocks get turned back one hour this weekend and not to forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors, and that the fire department will be on this as well. November is Nation Lung Cancer Awareness Month and November 1st is National Family Literacy Day. On November 9th, 2016, the Veteran’s breakfast will be held at South Central’s High School and the unavailing of the Veteran’s dedicated parking sign will be held on November 11th, 2016. Mayor Sallee also stated, he would like to give a special thanks to the Police Department and the Fire Department for a successful Trick or Treat, there were quite a few people out and the presents of both departments made traffic slow or even come to a complete stop the let families and children cross the street safely.
