Elese Tornlin Center - Included in packet b Committee Member Reports PUBLIC COMMENT ADJOURNMENT Groveland Code of Ordinances Sec. 2-58 fi. Any person desiring to address the Council shall first secure the permission of the presiding fficer and shall give his nctme and address for the record. All remarks shall be addressed to the Council as a body and not to any member thereof unless permission to do so is first granted by the presiding fficer. Unlessfurther time is granted by the presiding fficer or the council, member of the public shall limit their discussion or address to no more thanfive minutes. No question shall be asked a council member or city fficial except through the presiding fficer. If your address is exempt from public record, you are not required to state it. Gity of Groveland Minutes Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting Tuesday, April 11,2023 The Groveland Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC) held a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 1 1, 2023 in the Lake David Community Center located at 450 S. Lake Avenue, Groveland, FL 34736. Vice-Chair Linda Cowels called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m. with the following Committee Members present: David Bergstein, Chuck Kenzig, and School Representative Lashawn lrvin. Late arrival Chair Joscelyn Campbell and David Badillo. Also present was City official, Mike Walker, Parks and Community Services Director, Recording Secretary Dodie Barger, and Vanessa Boodhoo Administrative Assistant in training. Excused Absences - Fred Wood and Michael Gris. Unexcused absence- Shana Martin. OPENING CEREMONIES Pledge of Allegiance led by Chair ROLL CALL Recording Secretary Dodie Barger, called the roll with all present excluding Chair Joscelyn Campbell, David Badillo, and Shana Martin. There was not a quorum, however Chair Joscelyn Campbell and David Badillo attended soon after roll call. CONSENT AGENDA WAS MOVED TO END OF MEETING PRESENTATIONS 202212023 Calendar of Events Mike Walker. Parks. and Communitv Services Director Director Walker states that in the packages they have upcoming events. He states the 2nd Friday Market April 1 4,2023, will have local singer Rob Nichols to perform. At the end of the month, April 28, 2023, will have the Annual Arbor Day Event at David Blanks Playground Elese Tomlin Center. Will be planting 2 trees there at the location at 11:30 am. Also, to start the Youth Basketball sign-ups for the summer. Signs up will be during the month of May and will start the season in June. The first round of Youth Basketball was successful. We want to have one in the fall and one in the summer. Currently our Men's League is going on at Hope International Church on Monday and Tuesday evenings. And Starts Smart Baseball program for Children 3-5 years old, a program to teach kids the bare minimal fundamentals before they get to Youth League. Parents are excited about the program because it uses age-appropriate tools to help them. For example, last night's lesson plan included balloons for hitting. lt also allows parents to interact with their child. Past event Easter was this past Saturday, had a great turn out. Approximately, 1500 attended during the Easter event. ApRtL 11,2023, RECREATTON ADVTSORY COMMTTTEE (RAC) MEETTNG MINUTES OLD BUSINESS Mike Walker. Director Parks. and Communitv Services 1. Capital lmprovement Plan (FY23) Director Walker noted the members have the Capital lmprovement spreadsheet in their packets. Cherrv Lake Park - 1}0o/o plans got final review comments from the City Planning Department yesterd ay 04110. Will be sent over to Elizabeth our design team leader. Lake David Splashpad Shade Structures - Shade structures are in and completed. David Blanks Restroom - ln at 99%. The restroom has been put in place at the right level Ms. Linda shares that the concrete sidewalk has been put in along with gravel. Electrical was installed today 04111. Will be having Arbor Day at this location April 28. Funding has been requested in next year's budget to have a reprogram Master Plan of David Planks Park. 2. Update - Cherrv Lake Park See CIP discussion above 3. Update - South Lake Reqional Director Walker noted that in the improvement plan of South Lake Regional NEW BUSINESS Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Master Plan - Review Section 1 Shared presentation that was given to City Council last month at a Parks Workshop to update on Parks. Review staffing, programs that are being currently provided, events. Election of Chair and Vice- Ghair - Motion: Committee Member Kenzig nominated current Chairman Joscelyn Campbell to serye another year. Committee Member Bergstein seconded the motion. Chairman Joscelyn Campbell accepted. Motion was approved unanimously. Motion: Committee Member Bergstein nominated current Vice-Chair Linda Cowels to serve another year. Committee Member Kenzig seconded the motion. Vice-Chair Linda Cowels accepted. Motion was approved unanimously. CONSENT AGENDA Consideration of Approval : A. FEBUARY 14. 2023. RAC Meetinq Minutes Motion: Committee Member Bergstein made motion to approve the February 14,2023, RAC Meeting minutes as presented, and Committee Member Kenzig seconded the motion.
