CAPI Committee Meeting Results September 20, 2017 – Community Development Conference Room- 5:00 PM Present: Fred Everett – District 5 Neighborhood Commissioner Steve Edwards Chair – Faith Based Commissioner “Chuck” McEachin – District 2 Neighborhood Commissioner Staff Jasmine Bryson - Neighborhood Development Associate Keisha Whitley - Chief Neighborhood Specialist Absent: Lynn Allsbrook – Public Works Department David Duxbury – District 1 Neighborhood Commissioner Peggy Todd – At-Large Realtor Commissioner Guest: None New Business I. Area for the Fall 2017 Home Repair Blitz: A Staff gave a reminder that there is still a need for team leaders and volunteers for Home Repair Blitz on October 7, 2017. II. Reviewed the Powhatan Park CAP Grant Application for “National Night Out” 2017: After much discussion regarding the policy around a fundraising and how the grant is conditionally approved based on the applicants removing "Raffle to raise money for treasury" from their budget narrative. The Chair called for a vote: The vote went as follows: Fred Everette – Yea Steve Edwards – Yea Chuck McEachin – Yea Old Business I. Grant Policy Change Discussion: The Committee discussed amendments to:  The Neighborhood Development Fund Program Overview  Definitions  Purpose of the Funds  Community Action Project Grant portion of the policy Also the Committee was tasked with homework to come up with the best way to incorporate that the grants are seed money and only to help get the neighborhood organizations started in the overview and the purpose sections of the policy.
