Agenda
PENINSULA STADIUM AUTHORITY Minutes from February 6, 2017
The meeting was called to order by Jim Wilson, Chair.
Others in attendance included: Frank Feagan, Wanda Gomes, Wayne Gomes, Sallie Marchello, Kevin
Myers, Ruth Simmons, Tim Smith, Steve Todd, Pat Uribes, and AG Womble from the board, Henry and
Hank Morgan and Jeffrey Scott from Community Baseball, Donnie Tuck and Mary Bunting from the
City, and Carrie and Ron Quinn from Q Designs.
Tim moved and Wanda seconded approval of the January23, 2017 minutes.
Wanda gave the Treasurer's report, stating that we currently have $43,204.68.
At the last meeting, we agreed on what we would like our first capital improvement
project to be. Q Designs is trying to get updated costs. We hope to be able to combine our money from
this year's capital improvements budget with next year's to complete it.
Carrie gave a report on bids for construction that were received from Vertexco, Cape Construction, and
Ritchie-Curbow. The AECOM report was used for approximate square footage and all included civil
engineering. Separate costs were given for site work. Estimates varied, and more conversation is
needed. There is a possibility of phasing.
We have people willing to do cost only donations on concrete and steel.
Budget and time frame are issues. We hope to start in September 2017.
We will need to use a city procurement process. Going through the procurement process will provide a
lot more detail. Mary Bunting expressed concern about liability/risk management if we use volunteers.
We may be able to give naming rights or sponsorship designation for monetary donations. Frank asked
that we get the city to give us a list of subcontractors for pricing and bidding.
We need to go to Council to show the project and request that we get access to the current $600,000 and
the next $600,000 ASAP after July 1.Mary suggested that we schedule an afternoon session as soon as
possible. We will plan to do this on Wednesday, February 22nd.
On February 22nd, there will also be a “Meet the Pilots Night” at Oozlefinch to earn money for
cancer prevention.
Jeffrey had a call regarding vehicles parked on our property. Someone claims they have purchased the
property. The City's website does not show any change. Tim says it would need to be properly zoned for
parking vehicles.
Henry and Jeffrey reported that a short fence from the Tiki bar to the left wall has been put in and was
painted by Hampton Crabber baseball players. A drain has been installed and an 8 foot chain link fence
will be in this week. Bullpen mounds will be shipped this week, and turf will be in. About eight
tournaments have been lined up. We will play Team USA on June 25, 2017.
Our next meeting will be March 6, 2017.
