Parks Advisory Meeting Dates 2025-26 • Staff went over the Parks Committee meeting dates that were scheduled for 2025- 26. • Due to joint meetings with City Council most of those meetings were cancelled. • The next joint meeting with City Council is scheduled for Tuesday July 15th. • The next Parks Advisory meeting scheduled for Monday September 8th will be a Parks Tour only. Oregon Public Meeting Law Training • Staff let the Parks Advisory Committee know there is an Oregon Meeting Law Training that isn’t required for the Parks Group but is recommended for informational purposes. • Staff to send out a link to the recorded YouTube video or members can schedule a date for a live presentation. Emergency Contact Information on Signage • Staff reviewed the established signage within the park system. • The City Hall number is posted for people to call if there are concerns or issues. • If you call during business hours you will get a live person who can direct the caller to Public Works or Code Enforcement. If you call after hours, you will get an automated voicemail that will give you the option to pick non-emergency. A call will then be made to Public Works or Code Enforcement. • Staff are looking for recommendations from the Parks Committee, if additional park signage should be added. • The Parks Committee recommended adding additional signage at the lower end of park. Personal Light Electric Vehicle Usage in Parks • Staff reviewed the PLEVs (personal light electric vehicle) usage within Happy Valley Park. • There have been concerns about their usage, on trails and walking paths and the safety of people in the park. • In April the Public Safety Director, Steve Campbell wrote an article for the newsletter talking about important guidelines to follow when using PLEV’s. • Staff asked the committee if signage reminding users to be considerate when using PLEVs should be added within the park. • Committee member Turrentine gave the idea of painting pictures on the ground. • Staff mentioned they could work with the arts committee to make it look more like art pieces.
