HAYES TOWNSHIP November 13, 2023 UNAPPROVED MINUTES Supervisor Jones called the General Meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. at the Hayes Township Hall, 2055 E. Townline Lake Road. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Members present – Supervisor Jones, Trustee Buckley, Trustee Teall, Treasurer Rood, and Clerk Hoyt Members absent - None Motion Teall/Rood to approve agenda. All Ayes, motion carried. Public Comment on agenda (The Hayes Township Board allows 3 minutes per person for public comment) Community Reports • County Commissioner Motion Teall/Rood to approve the following board minutes, with corrections: • October 16, 2023 General meeting – with correction • October 20, 2023 Special meeting • October 30, 2023 Special meeting All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Rood/Teall to approve bills to be paid. All Ayes, motion carried. Supervisor report was given. Motion Jones/Rood to go approve October 20, 2023 closed session minutes. Roll call vote: Jones – aye, Buckley – aye, Teall – aye, Rood – aye, Hoyt - aye. Motion carried. Motion Jones/Rood to go approve November 9, 2023 closed session minutes. Roll call vote: Jones – aye, Buckley – aye, Teall – aye, Rood – aye, Hoyt - aye. Motion carried. Motion Jones to appoint Lisa Rodgers to Planning Commission, term to expire12/20/24. No , no second, motion failed. Motion Rood/Teall to approve survey for Sparks Grant to be sent with tax statements. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Buckley/Rood to approve Cummins Sales and Service generator maintenance renewal in the amount of $555.52. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Teall/Hoyt approve purchase of AED equipment – two (2) new AED for gym and banquet area in the amount of $3,810. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Teall/Rood to approve Interior lighting project to Seiter Brothers in the amount of $6,995.00. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Hoyt/Rood to approve Michigan Chloride Sales rate for 2024 - .209 per gallon (same as last year). All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Teall/Rood to approve Zoning Administrator to attend Introduction to Lakes online - MSU Extension 6-week course and offer to others that would like to watch these classes - $95.00. All Ayes, motion carried. Motion Rood/Buckley to approve Deputy Treasurer to attend Board Roles and Decisions MTA training – registration $178.00, mileage approximately $100 – after discussion the motion was amended to include approval for Supervisor to also attend Board Roles and Decisions MTA training – registration $356.00, mileage approximately $100. All Ayes, motion carried. Discussion Items • Airport siren – weather warning siren o FEMA recommends that people sign up for weather warnings on their cell phone. • Point Broadband METRO Act request.
