Meeting Called to Order A meeting of Harrisonburg Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission was held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 7 p.m. via GoToMeeting. Kevin Gibson called the meeting to order with the following commission members present: Sandra Bopp, MuAwia DaMes, Chance Ebersold, Kevin Gibson, Obie Hill, James Logan, and Carol Mills-Rooker. Present from Parks and Recreation: Luanne Santangelo and Connie Lawson. I Welcome - Kevin Gibson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. II Welcome to New & Reappointed Members-Kevin Gibson welcomed Carol Mills-Rooker to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission. Chance Ebersold was reappointed for another term. III. Approval of November Meeting Minutes-James Logan motioned to approve the minutes. MuAwia DaMes seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of approving the November 9, 2020 minutes. IV, Election of Officers -Kevin Gibson was nominated by MuAwia DaMes to serve as Chair, all members present voted to approve. Obie Hill was nominated by MuAwia DaMes to serve as Vice Chair, all members present voted to approve. V. Director’s Report -Luanne Santangelo provided a written report to Advisory Commission members. VI. Additional items not in Director’s Report. Seven proposals have been received for the RFP for the Golf Course financial analysis. b. Sandra Bopp and Obie Hill volunteered to serve on the committee for the historical marker for The Lucy F. Simms Building. c. Obie Hill presented a proposal from the School Board on creating more outdoor learning spaces in collaboration with Parks & Recreation. Event Attendance & Advocacy Opportunities-The 2021 Shamrock Virtual Trail Run will take place between the dates of March 17th-20th .
