Meeting Called to Order A meeting of Harrisonburg Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission was held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 7 p.m. via GoToMeeting. Kevin Gibson called the meeting to order with the following commission members present: Sandra Bopp, MuAwia DaMes, Chance Ebersold, Kevin Gibson, Obie Hill, Deanna Reed and Carol Mills-Rooker. Present from Parks and Recreation: Brian Mancini and Connie Lawson. I Welcome - Kevin Gibson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. II. Approval of April Meeting Minutes-Obie Hill motioned to approve the minutes. MuAwia DaMes seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of approving the April 19, 2021 minutes. III, Director’s Report-Brian Mancini gave a verbal report on the reopening of several city parks and various projects at Park facilities. . VI. Event Attendance & Advocacy Opportunities-Brian Mancini asked the Commission to promote the reopening of city parks. The commission discussed updating the Bi-Laws to allow some form of public comment period on current agenda items during meetings. Kevin Gibson will draft an amendment to the Bi-Laws and present at a later date. VII. General Public Comments - One comment was received on the reopening of roads at Hillandale Park. VIII.
