Simms Continuing Education Center 1. Meeting Called to Order A meeting of the Harrisonburg Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission was held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Lucy F. Simms Continuing Education Center. Kevin Gibson called the meeting to order with the following commission members present: Sandra Bopp, MuAwia DaMes, Kevin Gibson, Deanna Reed, Obie Hill, and James Logan. Present from Parks and Recreation: Brian Mancini, Connie Lawson, Scott Erickson, Stephanie Howard, Erik Dart, Courtney Carawan, Steven Hollister, Nate Almarode, Matt Little and Matt Muterspaugh. I Welcome - Kevin Gibson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. II. Approval of June Meeting Minutes- Sandra Bopp motioned to approve the minutes. James Logan seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of approving the June 21, 2021 minutes. III. Introduction of New Staff Members- Brian Mancini introduced the Athletic Division Staff to the Commission. IV, Director’s Report-Brian Mancini gave a verbal director’s report. . V. Action Items a.) Upcoming Events-The Commission was invited to attend the Grand Opening of the new Football complex at Smithland on Sept 18, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. b.) Introduction of In Person Divisional Reports-Brian Mancini announced that In Person Divisional Reports will be a part of the Commission meeting starting in September with the Athletic Division. VI. Proposed Amendment to the Bylaws -Kevin Gibson proposed the following amendment to the PRAC Bylaws: The PRAC reserves the right to vote during a meeting to open up a current agenda item to public City of Harrisonburg Page 1 Printed on 1/11/2022 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final August 16, 2021 Commission comment. A majority vote from the PRAC is required to allow comments and comments are limited to five minutes each. Obie Hill motioned to approve the amendment and James Logan seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of approving the amendment to the PRAC Bylaws. VII. General Public Comments - No public comments. VIII. Next PRAC Meeting - The next meeting will be held at the Lucy F. Simms Continuing Education Center on September 20, 2021 at 7 p.m. VIIII. Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m. 2.
