Simms Continuing Education Center 1. Meeting Called to Order A meeting of the Harrisonburg Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission was held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 7 p.m. at the Lucy F. Simms Continuing Education Center. Kevin Gibson called the meeting to order with the following commission members present: Sandy Bopp, Chance Ebersold, MuAwia DaMes, Kevin Gibson, Obie Hill, Jim Logan, and Carol Mills-Rooker. Present from Parks and Recreation: Brian Mancini, Donna Scott, Connie Lawson, Scott Erickson, AJ Morris, and Ryan Flippo. I Welcome - Kevin Gibson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. II. Approval of September Meeting Minutes- Chance Ebersold motioned to approve the minutes. Carol Mills-Rooker seconded the motion. All members present voted in favor of approving the September 20, 2021 minutes. III. Introduction of New Staff Members- Brian Mancini introduced Donna Scott, the new Administrative Services, Business Manager and Ryan Flippo, the new Aquatics Program Supervisor. IV, Director’s Report-Brian Mancini gave a verbal director’s report. . V. Action Items a.) Upcoming Events-VRPS Conference b.) Aquatics Division Report-AJ Morris gave a presentation on Westover Pool and the changes that have been made to the Aquatic Programs. Highlighting the upgrades to facilities, the increase in Lap Swimming and the new programs being offered. VI. Commission Comments-The Commission discussed various topics relating to the Parks and Recreation Department. VII. General Public Comments - No Public Comments. VIII. Next PRAC Meeting - The next meeting will be held at the Lucy F.
